The popular August festival held within the San Felice complex in Torino di Sangro
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The San Felice Festival is one of the most cherished events of the summer in Torino di Sangro, a small town in the province of Chieti overlooking the stunning Costa dei Trabocchi in Abruzzo. The festival is held in the second half of August within the grounds of the San Felice monumental complex, a landmark of the historic center that includes the church and the ancient convent from which the festival takes its name.
The event is organized by the Pro San Felice "Donato Iezzi" Association, a local volunteer group that brings residents and visitors together every year for a series of open-air evenings. The San Felice Festival is part of the vibrant summer calendar in Torino di Sangro, which fills the hilltop village and the Borgata Marina with events, food festivals, and local celebrations during the warmer months. While not the town's patronal feast—which is dedicated to the Madonna of Loreto—the San Felice celebration is deeply rooted in the village's identity and the history of the religious complex that bears its name.
The festival evenings combine religious and community moments with open-air entertainment, featuring live music, food stalls serving traditional Abruzzese flavors, and opportunities for people of all ages to connect. The grounds of the San Felice complex transform into a meeting point where local families and coastal tourists share the authentic atmosphere of a traditional summer village festival.
The festival is also a perfect opportunity to discover Torino di Sangro and its surroundings: the town center sits on a hill, while the Marina district stretches along the coast, famous for its trabocchi—the ancient wooden fishing machines that dot the Teatine coast. Just a short distance away lies the Lecceta Litoranea, a nature reserve protecting one of the last remaining coastal forests on the Adriatic. Attending the San Felice Festival means experiencing an authentic community evening while immersing yourself in one of the most characteristic landscapes of the Adriatic Abruzzo.
Dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced. The festival is traditionally held in the second half of August; we recommend following the channels of the Pro San Felice "Donato Iezzi" association and the Municipality of Torino di Sangro for the program as soon as it is released.

The festival is held within the grounds of the San Felice monumental complex in the historic center of Torino di Sangro (province of Chieti, Abruzzo), on the Costa dei Trabocchi.
By car: Take the Val di Sangro exit on the A14 motorway, then follow the SS16 Adriatic state road towards the village. By train: The Adriatic line stops at coastal stations, with road connections to the hilltop center. The town is also accessible by bicycle along the Costa dei Trabocchi cycle path.
The event takes place outdoors in the height of summer: light clothing is recommended. This period is ideal for combining the festival with a day at the beach and a visit to the trabocchi and the Lecceta Litoranea nature reserve.
