Three days of wine, music, and tradition in the heart of San Clemente
The San Clemente Wine Festival is an event of great historical and cultural value that celebrates one of the territory's foundational elements: wine production. Founded in the 1970s, the festival takes place every year at the end of May in the center of the small Municipality of San Clemente, in the province of Rimini, in the hilly hinterland of Valconca which forms the backdrop to the Romagna Riviera. For three days, the village transforms into a meeting point for lovers of good wine, genuine cuisine, and popular traditions.
The soul of the event is the Sangiovese Competition, the wine contest that pits the best red wines produced in San Clemente and surrounding municipalities against each other. The challenge culminates in the proclamation of the winners of the Attilio Arlotti Trophy, dedicated to the memory of a figure linked to local wine culture. It is one of the most deeply rooted amateur wine competitions in the area, capable of involving winemakers and family cellars that preserve knowledge passed down through generations.
Alongside wine tasting, the Wine Festival offers a rich entertainment program in Piazza Mazzini: evenings enlivened by local music groups and schools, Romagna folk music orchestras, dance school performances, and vintage vehicle exhibitions curated by Rimini enthusiast clubs. Folk music, dancing, and conviviality are an integral part of the festival's identity, in true Romagna style.
Throughout the event, the food stand, with typical Romagna cuisine dishes, and the artisan market, where local products and handcrafted creations can be found, remain open. All in an atmosphere of popular celebration that attracts visitors from the Riviera and the hinterland.
Included in the calendar of festivals of the Rimini Riviera and Emilia-Romagna, the San Clemente Wine Festival is organized by the local Pro Loco and represents an ideal opportunity to discover a village in the Romagna hinterland, away from the crowds of the coast but just a few kilometers from the sea.
The 56th edition of the Wine Festival took place in San Clemente from Friday, May 22 to Sunday, May 24, 2026, with three days of tastings, music, shows, and tradition.
Throughout the event, the food stand and artisan market were open.
