The patronal feast of Cadelbosco di Sopra, featuring a market, Luna Park, and tradition in honor of Saint Celestine I Pope
The San Celestino Fair is the patronal feast of Cadelbosco di Sopra, a town in the lower plains of the Province of Reggio Emilia, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. Dedicated to Pope Saint Celestine I, after whom the feast and the local parish (B.V.M. Addolorata e S. Celestino I Papa) are named, the fair returns every spring, transforming the town center into a large space for celebration and community gathering.
The heart of the event is the great fair market, which fills Piazza XXV Aprile and the surrounding streets with dozens of stalls: clothing, crafts, home goods, and food specialties. Alongside the exhibitors, there are also tasting stands from local associations and the Pro Loco, where you can sample traditional Reggio Emilia products. For children and families, the Luna Park, set up in the Bocciodromo area, accompanies the entire duration of the fair with rides and attractions.
The main day begins with the Holy Mass in honor of the patron saint, a moment that links the fair to its religious roots and the community's history. The market is complemented by a program of entertainment, children's games, and shows: in past editions, the fair has hosted dialect theater performances, cultural initiatives, and moments of solidarity, making it a true village festival.
Always defined as "traditional," the San Celestino Fair represents one of the identity events in Cadelbosco di Sopra's calendar. It's an occasion for the town to come together, for associations to get involved, and for visitors from neighboring towns to reach the center to experience a day of market, flavors, and Emilian folklore. A family-friendly, free, and outdoor event that tells the most authentic soul of the lower Reggio Emilia region.
The San Celestino Fair 2026 was held in Cadelbosco di Sopra (Reggio Emilia) from Sunday, April 5th to Tuesday, April 7th, with a reduced program compared to previous editions due to its overlap with the Easter holidays. The patronal feast nevertheless confirmed its most cherished events for the community: the Holy Mass in honor of Pope Saint Celestine I, the large market that animated the town center, the gastronomic stands organized by local associations, and the traditional Luna Park. To conclude the festivities, a free theater performance in dialect was offered to the citizens.
Reduced program due to coincidence with Easter.
The heart of the fair is in Piazza XXV Aprile and the streets of the center of Cadelbosco di Sopra (RE), in Emilia-Romagna. The Luna Park is set up in the Bocciodromo area.
