The historic Wild Boar Feast in Perarolo di Arcugnano
The San Bernardino Festival takes place in Perarolo di Arcugnano, a hamlet of the municipality of Arcugnano, in the province of Vicenza, in the Berici Hills. Known as the Wild Boar Feast, it is one of the historic festivals of the Vicenza area, held in May on the weekend following the feast day of San Bernardino, celebrated on May 20th.
The heart of the event is its game cuisine: the food stall offers wild boar in numerous preparations, from pappardelle with wild boar to stew, accompanied by homemade gnocchi and traditional dishes. A menu that tells the story of the Berici Hills' connection to hunting and the intense flavors of Vicenza's cuisine.
Every evening, the stall opens at 6:30 PM, with music and entertainment as a backdrop. The festival, organized in collaboration with the Pro Loco of Arcugnano, has been a gathering point for the community and visitors to the Berici Hills for decades, bringing together multiple generations around the table.
Perarolo is one of the hamlets of the scattered municipality of Arcugnano, nestled in the hilly landscape of the Berici Hills just a few kilometers from Vicenza. The San Bernardino Festival is an opportunity to discover this territory and its authentic gastronomic tradition, far from the most touristy routes.
