A festival dedicated to the black truffle of Abruzzo

The San Bartolomeo di Scoppito Truffle Festival is one of the most deeply rooted culinary events in the L'Aquila area. Every year in early August, the small hamlet of San Bartolomeo, in the municipality of Scoppito (Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo), transforms into a vibrant crossroads of flavors and traditions, framed by the gentle mountains surrounding the L'Aquila basin, which are rich in precious black truffles.

Truffle as the star of the table

The heart of the event is the food stalls, which open every evening around 8:00 PM in the scenic Are Sante area, a true natural balcony overlooking the plateau. Here, the local black truffle takes center stage in dishes prepared with skill and tradition:

After a few years of forced hiatus, the event returned with renewed enthusiasm thanks to the efforts of the Proville Cultural Association, which organizes the festival with the goal of promoting the territory through its gastronomic excellence and showcasing the black truffle of Abruzzo, harvested in surprising quantities on the mountains of Scoppito.
