The patronal festival of Redipuglia, featuring local cuisine and tombola raffles
When the end of July arrives, Redipuglia gathers around its patron saint. The Saint James Festival is the feast that brings this hamlet of Fogliano Redipuglia, in the heart of the Gorizia region, together every summer: five evenings of celebration in a cozy and protected area next to the church, with a large covered marquee to shelter from sun and rain.
The cuisine is one of the festival's strong points. From gnocchi with duck ragu to goulash, from grilled deboned chicken to skewers and calamari, all the way to desserts and ice cream. The attentive and well-tested organization includes a fast checkout for drinks and desserts, a queue management system, and accessibility for people with disabilities. The use of reusable and biodegradable tableware has earned the festival the EcoFVG certification.
Every evening the festival comes alive with live music and dancing, while the rich tombola raffles and the charity raffle โ where all tickets win โ attract families and visitors. The last evening ends on a sweet note, with a slice of cake and a toast with sparkling wine. Everything is managed by the Festival Committee, which also organizes the Seima on January 5th and theatrical performances throughout the year.
Redipuglia is universally known for its great Military Shrine, a monument to the memory of the First World War. Coming here for the festival means combining the authenticity of a village feast with the discovery of a place steeped in history, in the Gorizia countryside just a stone's throw from the Isonzo River.
In 2026 too, the Saint James Festival will liven up Redipuglia with its patronal feast evenings, following the tried-and-tested formula: five evenings of local cuisine, music, dancing, tombola raffles, and charity raffle, under the large marquee next to the church.
The exact dates for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Festival Committee in the weeks prior.
