About Saint Blaise Festival

The Sagra di San Biagio is the ancient patronal festival of Maseris, a hamlet of Coseano, in the heart of the hilly Friuli region. Over two weekends in February, the community gathers for a solemn mass, procession, and banquets featuring the region's signature dish: brovada and muset, served in a heated marquee.

A Winter Patronal Festival

In the heart of the Friulian winter, the hamlet of Maseris (Coseano) celebrates its patron saint, Saint Blaise, with one of the oldest festivals in the area. For two weekends in February, the community comes together around the church and the heated marquee for a celebration that blends faith, tradition, and conviviality.

Brovada and Muset, the Taste of Friuli

The signature dish is brovada and muset: brovada, made from turnips macerated in grape must, served with muset, the Friulian cotechino sausage. A quintessential winter pairing, served at tables in the heated marquee along with other local culinary specialties, in a warm and familiar atmosphere.

Faith, Music, and Tradition

The festival retains its religious dimension with the solemn mass and the traditional procession of Saint Blaise. The faith-based events are complemented by evenings with orchestras and DJs, magic shows for children, and horseback rides, in a program designed for all ages.

Maseris and the Hilly Friuli Region

Organized by the Associazion par Maseris with the support of the Municipality of Coseano, the festival is an authentic example of a Friulian patronal festival: an event that keeps alive the roots of a small hilly community and its traditional cuisine.
