Ancient crafts and popular tradition in the village of Montecchio
The Saint Bernard Fair is one of the traditional events in Montecchio, a village in the province of Terni. Linked to the figure of the saint, the fair combines popular devotion and the culture of artisan work, bringing back to life the gestures and knowledge of the past.
The heart of the event is the re-enactment of ancient crafts: through the streets of the historic center, artisans from different parts of Italy — particularly basket weavers — demonstrate live manual work techniques, from basketry to other crafts of the agricultural and artisan tradition.
Organized with the involvement of the Pro Loco and the Montecchio community, the Saint Bernard Fair is an opportunity to rediscover the village's roots and its heritage of popular traditions, in a festive atmosphere that unites residents and visitors.
The 2026 edition of the Saint Bernard Fair returns to Montecchio on May 23rd and 24th.
The protagonist is the re-enactment of ancient crafts, with basket weavers and artisans from different parts of Italy animating the historic center by demonstrating live manual work techniques, in a festival that celebrates the patron saint and the artisan roots of the village.
Detailed hourly program will be released by the Pro Loco closer to the event.
