The neighborhood festival of the Santi Cosma e Damiano parish in Copertino
The Sagra ti sotta lu Sciarpu is a vibrant grassroots event held in Copertino, a town in the Province of Lecce famous for its imposing Angevin-Aragonese castle and as the home of Saint Joseph of Copertino, the "saint of flight." The festival was established in 2025 on the initiative of the Santi Cosma e Damiano Martiri Parish, with the patronage of the Municipality of Copertino, and in just a few editions, it has become a highly anticipated event for the neighborhood and the entire town.
The heart of the evening lies in the food stalls, where you can enjoy typical Salento dishes in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere. But the festival is about more than just food: for families, there are bouncy castles to keep the little ones entertained, while the stage hosts live concerts and musical performances that keep the evening going until late. Admission is free, in the genuine spirit of Apulian village festivals.
The event takes place in the small sports field adjacent to the parish, on Via Eugenio Montale, an open-air space that becomes the neighborhood's meeting point for the night. Its location right next to the church highlights the community and parish-based nature of the event, typical of festivals organized by Salento parishes during the summer months.
Copertino is located in the heart of Salento, a short distance from Lecce, Nardò, and Galatina, in a land of olive groves, wine, and popular traditions. The Sagra ti sotta lu Sciarpu is part of the rich summer calendar of festivals and patron saint feasts that, between June and September, bring a different town in the Salento peninsula to life every night. It is a simple yet authentic opportunity to experience local hospitality, savor regional gastronomy, and spend an evening in good company under the Apulian sky.
The second edition of the Sagra ti sotta lu Sciarpu took place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Copertino, at the usual sports field adjacent to the Santi Cosma e Damiano Martiri parish on Via Eugenio Montale.
For 2026, the Parish, with the support of the Municipality of Copertino, once again proposed the formula that made the first edition a success: food stalls with traditional Salento specialties, bouncy castles for children, and plenty of live music, all with free entry. The highlight of this year was the concert by Dolmenhir, which provided the musical entertainment for the evening.
Free entry. Event organized by the Santi Cosma e Damiano Martiri Parish with the support of the Municipality of Copertino.
Copertino can be reached by car via the SS101 Lecce-Gallipoli road (Copertino exit), or by train using the Ferrovie del Sud Est line (Lecce-Gallipoli route). It is about a 20-minute drive from Lecce.
The festival is held in the sports field adjacent to the Santi Cosma e Damiano parish, on Via Eugenio Montale in Copertino.
Free admission. The evening generally begins around 8:00 PM with the opening of the food stalls.
An event suitable for families thanks to the bouncy castles for children. We recommend arriving early to secure a spot at the stalls on busier nights.
