The patronal festival of Lucinico

Lucinico is one of the historic hamlets of Gorizia, nestled on the right bank of the Isonzo River at the foot of Calvario hill. Here, every August, the community gathers around the Sagra di San Rocco, the patronal festival organized by the parish of San Giorgio Martire with the patronage of the Municipality of Gorizia. It is one of those village festivals that bring different generations together, where the oratory on Via Giulio Cesare becomes the beating heart of the village for days.

The Borghi Tournament and games for everyone

What distinguishes this festival is its playful and competitive spirit. Alongside the food stalls, the program is marked by tournaments and games that compete for the pride of the hamlets and the fun of adults and children alike: from sports challenges to board game and video game tournaments, up to more light-hearted competitions like the hay bale race, corn hole, and team quizzes. The challenges are organized into two categories, Junior and Senior, so that the entire community can truly participate.

Evenings are accompanied by live music and DJ sets, while every evening, until prizes run out, there is a charity raffle with gastronomic specialties and gadgets. The traditional tombola (bingo) is also present.

Devotion and conviviality

The religious aspect remains central: on the day of the patronal festival, Holy Mass is celebrated, also at the small church of San Rocco in Pubrida, before the festival gets into full swing with the evening stalls, final tournaments, and awards ceremonies. The Sagra di San Rocco of Lucinico is thus an event that blends faith, sport, and conviviality, a genuine expression of community life in this corner of the Gorizia region.
