The patronal festival of Illasi in Piazza Polonia, at the end of August
At the end of August, Illasi, a village in the Val d'Illasi in the province of Verona, celebrates its patron saint with the Sagra di San Bartolomeo, dedicated to the apostle whose feast day is August 24th. The festival takes place in Piazza Polonia, behind the Town Hall, and is organized by the Pro Loco Illasi.
Typical cuisine is the great protagonist of the festival. The food stand offers traditional Veronese dishes: gnocchi with tomato sauce or gorgonzola, risottos with tastasal or Amarone, mixed grills, tagliata with rocket and Grana Padano, grilled chicken, and the famous arrosticini. The evenings are accompanied by music and moments of celebration for the entire community.
In recent years, the patronal festival has been enriched with a historical dimension: during the 2025 Sagra, the appointment of the Captains of the Contrade was presented, with a procession and flag-wavers, an anticipation of the new Renaissance Palio "Ginevra d'Illasi". The Sagra di San Bartolomeo thus confirms itself as an identity moment for the town, capable of uniting devotion, gastronomy, and tradition.
Located in the Val d'Illasi, between Verona and Lessinia, Illasi is known for its wines and the Castle that dominates the village. The patronal festival of San Bartolomeo is one of the most anticipated events of the year, an opportunity to experience the town on warm late summer evenings.
The 2026 edition of the Sagra di San Bartolomeo in Illasi is expected at the end of August, coinciding with the feast of the patron saint (August 24th). The festival, organized by the Pro Loco Illasi, takes place in Piazza Polonia, behind the Town Hall, and features food stands with traditional Veronese dishes. The official 2026 dates have not yet been announced: historically, the festival is held in the last days of August.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Pro Loco Illasi in the weeks preceding the festival. According to the established structure of recent editions, the festival includes:
