The patronal festival of Istrana, in the heart of Marca Trevigiana
June 24th is the feast day of San Giovanni Battista (Saint John the Baptist), patron saint of Istrana, a municipality in the province of Treviso in the heart of Marca Trevigiana. Around this date, the community gathers for the village festival (sagra paesana), a patronal festival that intertwines religious and popular traditions, as is common throughout the Veneto region.
For several days, the centre of Istrana hosts the food and wine stall (stand enogastronomico) featuring traditional Venetian dishes, the funfair (luna park) with rides, the classic charity raffle (pesca di beneficenza), and a schedule of evenings dedicated to live music and shows. There are also activities for children, making the festival an event suitable for the whole family.
Organised by the local associations and parish groups, the Sagra di San Giovanni Battista is the summer event where Istrana comes together to honour its patron saint. With free admission to all evening events, it's a genuine opportunity to experience an authentic Venetian village festival, far from the more famous tourist destinations.
In 2026, Istrana will once again celebrate its patron saint, San Giovanni Battista, with its village festival, held on the days around June 24th. The traditional format is confirmed: the food and wine stall featuring traditional Venetian dishes, the funfair, the charity raffle, evenings of music and shows, and entertainment for the little ones. Free admission to all evening events.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including the schedule of musical evenings and shows, will be published by the organizers in the weeks preceding the festival. Based on the usual structure, the festival will include:
