Two weeks of cherry blossoms, orchestras, and village cuisine
The Festa della Ciliegia (Cherry Festival) is held in the hamlet of Barrucchella, part of the municipality of Ponzano Veneto in the province of Treviso. Now in its 32nd edition in 2026, it is an event rooted in the agricultural tradition of the area, where cherry trees were part of the small farms and rural properties around Treviso. For over two weeks, between late May and mid-June, the festival celebrates the cherry season and peasant culture.
The most characteristic event is 'Passeggiando tra i ciliegi' (Walking among the cherry trees), a roughly 6-kilometre walk through the orchards in full season, accompanied by the cherry exhibition. The evenings are dedicated to dancing with liscio orchestras, DJ sets, Caribbean dancing, and karaoke, while the food stand offers traditional Venetian cuisine, with the 'costata' (rib steak) among the most popular specialties.
Organised by the local committee of Barrucchella with the involvement of volunteers, the Festa della Ciliegia is a fixture in the life of the village and nearby towns. More than a tourist attraction, it is a celebration of a season and a product that have marked the agricultural history of the Treviso area, experienced in the authentic spirit of Venetian summer festivals.
