In Marola, in June, nettles become the star of the table with risottos and homemade pasta
The Sagra dell'Ortica (Nettle Festival) takes place every year in June in Marola, a hamlet of Torri di Quartesolo, in the province of Vicenza. The festival is dedicated to an ingredient as humble as it is surprising: nettles, a wild herb that Vicenza's peasant cuisine has skillfully enhanced, transforming it into tasty and refined dishes.
The heart of the festival is the food stand, which offers a series of nettle specialties: from nettle risotto to lasagna with ragรน, from fusilli to various homemade first courses. An original menu that attracts curious people and gourmets from all over the province each year, to discover flavors linked to tradition and the territory.
The festival is not just about food: every evening, starting from 7 PM, Marola comes alive with dancing evenings, live music, the traditional charity raffle, and a funfair for the enjoyment of adults and children. An atmosphere of popular celebration that makes the Sagra dell'Ortica one of the most anticipated events of the summer in Torri di Quartesolo.
Organized by the committee and volunteers of Marola, the festival is an example of the vibrancy of Vicenza's hamlet festivals, capable of enhancing local products and creating opportunities for community gathering, in the name of conviviality and tradition.
The Sagra dell'Ortica 2026 (Nettle Festival) returns in June to Marola, a hamlet of Torri di Quartesolo (VI). In recent editions, the festival took place in mid-June (June 13-17 in 2025, June 14-18 in 2024). The format is confirmed with the food stand dedicated to nettles, musical and dancing evenings, the charity raffle, and the funfair, every evening from 7 PM.
The dates and detailed program for the Sagra dell'Ortica 2026 will be published by the organizing committee on the festival's Facebook page closer to the event.
