The Sagra de la Madona de Agosto is the most anticipated summer event in Pieve Tesino, a mountain village perched at over 840 meters in the Tesino Valley, in the province of Trento, in the heart of the Trentino Valsugana. Every year, around Ferragosto (mid-August), the small community gathers for the feast dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, which gives the festival its name in the local dialect.

A multi-day village festival

For about a week, Pieve Tesino transforms: the village streets and squares fill with stalls, aromas, and music. The festival takes place mainly between the Piazzale Nord delle Scuole and the Arboreto del Tesino, offering a program designed for all ages. The craft and clothing market accompanies the days, while street food stands offer traditional dishes and mountain specialties.

Music and dance nights

The festival evenings are dedicated to live music: tribute bands, ballroom dancing groups, Italian music nights, and DJ sets keep the village lively until late. It is the moment when locals and vacationers come together to dance and toast under the summer sky of the Lagorai mountains.

The religious tradition of August 15th

The devotional heart of the festival remains August 15th, the day of the Assumption of Mary: the solemn Mass is followed by the traditional parade of local associations and a convivial gathering open to everyone. It is a gesture that, for generations, has held the Tesino community together around its own identity.

A village to discover

Organized with care by the Pro Loco of Pieve Tesino, the festival is also an opportunity to discover one of the most characteristic villages in the Valsugana, the birthplace of Alcide De Gasperi and the gateway to the Tesino Plateau. Immersed in greenery among meadows, woods, and the hiking trails of the Lagorai, Pieve Tesino welcomes visitors in an authentic atmosphere, where the Ferragosto festival is experienced as a collective ritual of belonging, in the true spirit of the Trentino-Alto Adige mountains.
