The autumn festival of Arconate featuring traditional masks, chestnuts, and the Santa Teresa fair
The Sagra d'Autunno and the Fiera di Santa Teresa are the usual autumn events in Arconate, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Milan in the Alto Milanese region. Organised by the Gruppo Folkloristico Arconatese (Arconate Folkloric Group), they represent one of the most authentic expressions of the town's identity and take place over two consecutive days, Sunday and Monday, coinciding with Saint Teresa's feast day.
The Sagra d'Autunno opens in the afternoon with the parade of the Corpo Bandistico (Brass Band) through the town streets, accompanying the traditional Arconate masks of King Soquaun and Queen Sibreta. Along the streets, you'll find stalls selling second-hand goods, crafts, antiques, and hobby items, while food stands – managed by the Gruppo Folkloristico and the Gruppo Alpini (Alpine Group) – offer "carsenza" (a traditional local sweet), chestnuts, salamelle (sausages), polenta, and local cuisine dishes.
The following day is the Fiera di Santa Teresa: colourful stalls stretch out all day along the town's streets – via Roma, piazza Libertà, contrada Sant'Eusebio, via Matteotti, and via Turati – in one of the most established fairs in Arconate's calendar. For visitors to the Alto Milanese area, it's an opportunity to discover a local festival that preserves Arconate's own masks and customs.
For 2026, the Sagra d'Autunno and the Fiera di Santa Teresa renew the autumn appointment in Arconate, organised by the Gruppo Folkloristico Arconatese over two consecutive days, Sunday and Monday, coinciding with Saint Teresa's feast day. The exact dates and detailed program will be announced by the Gruppo Folkloristico and the Municipality in the weeks preceding the festival.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, with precise timings, will be published by the Gruppo Folkloristico Arconatese and the Municipality. The traditional structure of the festival includes:
