The neighborhood festival that reopens the season of Busto Arsizio's fairs
Sacconago in Piazza is the festival of the Sacconago neighborhood, a district of Busto Arsizio, in the province of Varese. Heir to the historic Grape Festival — renamed after the break during the Covid period — it is a popular celebration that for three days fills the squares of the district with music, flavors, and traditions, traditionally marking the restart of the Busto Arsizio fair season.
The heart of the festival are the food stalls, set up in the squares of the neighborhood — Piazza Carlo Noè, Piazza della Chiesa Vecchia, and Piazza San Donato — with the traditional risotto dishes at Cantina Rizzi. Alongside the food, the exhibition of agricultural machinery, traditional games, and reenactments of peasant life recall the rural roots of the district and its ancient vocation linked to the grape harvest.
The evenings are enlivened by concerts and DJ sets in Piazza Carlo Noè, while during the day there are inflatables and games for children, charity card tournaments, fire department demonstrations (Pompieropoli), performances by sports groups, and guided tours of the charming old church. A rich and varied program, designed to involve all ages.
Organized by the association of merchants and artisans of Sacconago, the festival is much more than a fair: it is the moment when the neighborhood comes together and celebrates its identity, between peasant memory and community life. With free entry, Sacconago in Piazza is one of the most cherished events of the late summer in Busto Arsizio.
The 2026 edition of Sacconago in Piazza takes place, as tradition dictates, between late August and early September, with three days of celebration in the Sacconago neighborhood. The program includes food stalls in the district's squares — Carlo Noè, Chiesa Vecchia, and San Donato — with traditional risotto dishes, evening concerts, inflatables and games for children, exhibitions of agricultural machinery, traditional games, fire department demonstrations, and visits to the old church.
