A stage for emerging voices at the gates of Rome

The Sacrofano CantaFestival is a singing competition that turns Piazza Ugo Serata into an open-air theater every year in late June. Promoted by the Sacrofano Band Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Sacrofano, the event was founded in 2024 and has quickly become one of the most anticipated musical highlights north of Rome, dedicated to showcasing new talent. Its stated goal is to provide a space for growth and visibility for emerging artists of all ages, promoting music as a tool for expression, inclusion, and sharing.

Three competition categories: Kids, Junior, and Senior

The festival features three sections — Kids, Junior, and Senior — designed to accommodate singers of all ages, from children to more mature voices. The finalists, selected in the preceding months and arriving from across the region, compete on stage by performing songs from the Italian and international repertoire. While winners in each category receive a commemorative plaque, for many young performers, the real prize is the opportunity to perform before a packed square and a jury of professionals.

A quality jury and the artistic direction of Maestro Calcagnini

Performances are evaluated by a jury chaired by Maestro Pinuccio Pirazzoli, a nationally renowned musician, composer, arranger, and conductor, joined by professionals from the music, arts, and media worlds. Artistic direction is entrusted to Maestro Carlo Calcagnini, who oversees the selection of contestants and the overall quality of the evening. This professional touch, combined with the friendly atmosphere of a local village festival, makes the CantaFestival an authentic training experience for those dreaming of a career in music.

The musical heart of the Patron Saints Festival

The competition takes place during the Feast of the Patron Saints Biagio and Geminiano, the most cherished celebration of the year in Sacrofano. It spans three days of liturgical celebrations at the Church of San Biagio, the solemn Sunday procession, artistic workshops in the medieval village, food stalls run by the Pro Loco, a tombola, and a fireworks display that closes the festivities. In this context, the CantaFestival evening has become the premier musical event, attracting audiences from neighboring towns in the Tiber Valley and from Rome.

Sacrofano is a municipality within the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region, nestled among the green hills of the Veio Regional Natural Park, about twenty-five kilometers from the center of Rome.
