The patronal feast of the Corriolo hamlet, blending devotion with live entertainment
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Festival is the most cherished celebration in Corriolo, a hamlet of the municipality of San Filippo del Mela, in the province of Messina. In this small village of north-eastern Sicily, overlooking the Gulf of Milazzo, the community gathers around the parish church of the Sacred Heart for a celebration that weaves together faith, tradition, and shared festivities.
The heart of the event remains religious: the Sacred Heart church, the parish building that gives the hamlet its identity, serves as the reference point for the services and moments of reflection that precede and accompany the days of the festival. The entire Corriolo community gathers around this devotion, in one of those patronal feasts that represent the main event of the year for small Sicilian towns.
Alongside the religious dimension, the festival offers a calendar of free evening shows that attract audiences from neighboring towns as well. In recent years, the program has alternated between pop music concerts and cabaret and comedy nights, confirming how Sicilian patronal feasts continue to host an important part of the musical and entertainment programming accessible to everyone.
The organization is managed by the Corriolo community together with the Giovanni Paolo II Friendship Oratory Association, a local entity committed to animating the parish and youth life of the hamlet. The Municipality of San Filippo del Mela supports the event, recognizing its identity value for the Corriolo community.
An authentic appointment for those who want to discover the Sicily of village festivals, far from the major tourist circuits, in the genuine setting of the Mela Valley.
The 2026 edition of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Festival in Corriolo, a hamlet of San Filippo del Mela (ME), offered two evenings of entertainment in the heart of the village. On Saturday, June 13, the stage hosted the Matteo Milazzo concert with the Bambola Tour, a live show built on his pop repertoire. Sunday, June 14, featured Falsi d'Autore, a show of music, impersonations, and cabaret. Both evenings, part of the hamlet's traditional patronal feast, were free of charge.
