About S'cios Festival

For over forty years, in July, Quero Vas dedicates its festival to 's'cios', snails cooked alla borgognona according to a recipe passed down through generations. In the main square of the village, in the Belluno area at the foot of Monte Grappa, the Pro Loco of Quero prepares about ten quintals of snails each year, attracting gourmets from all over the Veneto. With musical evenings, spit-roasted meats, and traditional dishes, the Sagra dei S'cios is one of the most beloved gastronomic events of the Belluno summer.

Snails: the Queens of Quero's Summer

The S'cios Festival is the event that enlivens Quero Vas every July. This municipality in the province of Belluno is nestled between Monte Grappa and the Piave river, along the ancient road connecting the Belluno area to Asolo. The absolute stars are the s'cios, snails in the local dialect, cooked alla borgognona with garlic, parsley, meat broth, and spices, following a recipe jealously guarded by the Pro Loco and passed down for over three decades.

Ten Quintals of Snails

Each edition requires immense preparation work: approximately ten quintals of snails are cleaned and cooked, served to over eight thousand visitors who flock to the Main Square of Quero each year. Alongside the signature dish, the food and wine stand offers traditional Venetian dishes, from duck ragu pasta to grilled meats, with evenings dedicated to 'tagliata' (sliced steak) and spit-roasting.

Music, Dancing, and Gatherings

The festival is not just about gastronomy; evenings are marked by live music and dancing, while the program includes folk shows and gatherings of vintage and sports cars. An event that combines the conviviality of village festivals with the taste of a unique specialty, capable of attracting enthusiasts from all over the Veneto and the nearby province of Treviso.

A Belluno Tradition

Organized by the Pro Loco of Quero, the S'cios Festival is now a classic of the Belluno summer, having surpassed its fortieth edition. An event that tells the story of the village's connection to its gastronomic traditions and a community capable of renewing the event each year with great participation.
