About Rose Festival

In Trevozzo, a hamlet of the Municipality of Alta Val Tidone in the province of Piacenza, the Rose Festival is one of the most anticipated events of late spring. For four days, between late May and early June, the new Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII transforms into a large open-air lounge, with food stands dedicated to the specialties of Val Tidone, dancing evenings with live orchestras, a market for hobbyists and artisans, and the traditional distribution of a rose to all women present. A genuine village festival, carefully organized by the Pro Loco Strà Trevozzo.

A Village Festival in the Heart of Val Tidone

The Rose Festival is one of the most cherished events in Trevozzo, a hamlet of the Alta Val Tidone Municipality, in the hilly hinterland of the province of Piacenza (Emilia-Romagna). Organized by the Pro Loco Strà Trevozzo, the festival enlivens the renovated Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII for four days, transforming it into a meeting point for the entire valley community and for visitors coming up from the Piacenza plain.

The Symbolic Flower and Tradition

The name of the festival refers to the most characteristic gesture of the event: the distribution of a rose to all women present, a moment that is renewed each year and gives the festival a warm and familiar tone. Dancing evenings, live music, and a great focus on conviviality, with outdoor tables and dinners under the stars, revolve around this symbol.

Piacenza Cuisine Takes Center Stage

The food stands are the heart of the festival. The Pro Loco offers typical dishes from the Piacenza and Val Tidone tradition: pisarei e fasò, tortelli with butter and sage, tagliolini with black truffle from Pecorara, DOP cured meats, salamelle, skewers, roasted coppa, sliced beef, and stuffed batarò, not to forget the sweet Torta delle Rose. All accompanied by Val Tidone wines and evenings of live music.

Market, Motors, and Entertainment

Sunday is the richest day: along Via Umberto I, a market unfolds with hobbyists, creators, artisans, and collectors, alongside an exhibition of vintage tractors and, among the novelties of recent editions, an Abarth car rally. A festival designed for all ages, where the music of dance orchestras and accordions accompanies the entire day.

When It Takes Place

The Rose Festival is held between the end of May and June 2nd, taking advantage of the long holiday weekend to offer four consecutive evenings of gastronomy, music, and tradition in the village of Trevozzo.
