The widespread aperitif among the downtown venues and the wines of the Piacentini Hills
Born in 2025, AperiWine — L'Aperitivo Piacentino has become in just a few seasons one of the most beloved food and wine events in Castel San Giovanni, a town in Val Tidone in the province of Piacenza, in Emilia-Romagna. The formula is that of a widespread aperitif: the historic center and adjacent streets transform into a grand gastronomic journey, where the city's venues serve as a stage for the wines of the Colli Piacentini wineries.
Each participating venue is paired with a local winery: strolling from one stop to another, you can meet the producer in person, sip original cocktails made with wines from the Colli Piacentini, and taste typical products, DOP, De.Co., and PAT specialties, as well as creative dishes designed for food lovers. It's an informal and convivial way to discover a wine region with a long tradition, in an elegant and carefree atmosphere.
The format includes two events: a spring edition in June and this autumn edition, scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026. Autumn is the ideal season for AperiWine, when the Colli Piacentini experience the harvest and new wines enter the cellar: a perfect opportunity to taste Gutturnio, Ortrugo, Malvasia, and other wines from the Colli Piacentini appellation directly from those who produce them.
AperiWine is not just about tasting: DJ sets and live music alternate at various points of the event, accompanying visitors along the entire route and transforming the aperitif into a true village festival. The initiative is part of the Welcome Val Tidone project, the showcase of taste that brings together five municipalities in the Piacenza area — Castel San Giovanni, Alta Val Tidone, Borgonovo Val Tidone, Pianello Val Tidone, and Ziano Piacentino — in over twenty food, wine, and commerce events.
AperiWine is promoted by the Municipality of Castel San Giovanni in collaboration with the Strada dei Vini e dei Sapori dei Colli Piacentini (Road of Wines and Flavors of the Piacentini Hills) and the Associazione Sette Colli di Ziano (Seven Hills Association of Ziano), with the contribution of Destinazione Turistica Emilia and the patronage of the Consorzio Tutela Vini DOC dei Colli Piacentini (Consortium for the Protection of DOC Wines of the Piacentini Hills).
After the success of the spring edition in June, AperiWine returns to Castel San Giovanni on Saturday, October 3, 2026, for its autumn edition. The date is confirmed as part of the Welcome Val Tidone project, which announced the repetition of the event in its autumn version.
The formula remains the one that led to the event's success: the historic center's venues, each paired with a winery from the Colli Piacentini, for a tasting journey featuring creative cocktails made with local wines, typical products, signature dishes, DJ sets, and live music. Autumn coincides with the harvest season in the Piacenza hills, making the event even more closely linked to the wine season.
The detailed program for the autumn edition on October 3, 2026 — including the list of participating venues and their paired wineries — will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
The structure is the consolidated one from previous editions: the aperitif takes place in the late afternoon and evening in the historic center, with the city's venues paired with wineries from the Colli Piacentini. At each AperiWine stop, you can meet the producer, taste cocktails and local wines paired with typical products and creative dishes, while DJ sets and live music liven up the various stages of the route.
