The Roman weekender for kizomba and Angolan semba
The Rome Kizomba Festival โ Festa do Semba is the Roman event dedicated to kizomba and semba, the couple dances and rhythms born in Angola and now danced across Europe. Designed as a weekenderโthree intense days from Friday to Sundayโthe festival brings together dancers, enthusiasts, and curious newcomers from all over Italy and abroad in Rome, within the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital.
The Festa do Semba follows an all-in-one format: lessons, shows, music, and social gatherings all under one roof. The typical program weaves together various moments throughout the weekend:
More than just a dance course, the Festa do Semba aims to be an immersion into Lusophone and Afro-Atlantic culture. Sensual and rhythmic kizomba, along with the more playful and vibrant semba, bring Angolan music and diaspora traditions to Rome in a festive atmosphere where different generations and backgrounds coexist. The vibe remains familiar and welcoming, true to the "como na banda" spirit of Luanda's neighborhood parties.
Throughout its editions, the event has chosen different venues in the Roman area, from resorts with pools on the outskirts of the city to conference hotels in the Aurelio district. The 4th edition, scheduled for September 2026, will be held in a hotel in the Aurelia area, convenient for those arriving by plane or car and just a few kilometers from the historic center of the capital.
For those who view dance as a passion and a lifestyle, the Festa do Semba is the ideal opportunity to deepen their technique with masters, discover the Italian kizomba scene, and experience an entire weekend dedicated to music, dance, and social connection in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Following the success of previous editions, the Rome Kizomba Festival โ Festa do Semba returns to the capital for its 4th edition, scheduled from September 25 to 27, 2026. The event moves to a hotel in the Aurelio district, maintaining the weekender formula that has made the event a benchmark for the kizomba and semba scene in Italy.
Three days entirely dedicated to Angolan dance and music, featuring lessons for all levels, free dance moments, and shows. The full program, including times, venues, and guests, will be published by the organizers closer to the event.
The venue for the 4th edition is located in the Aurelio area, along the Via Aurelia, easily accessible from the Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA). By plane, the reference airports are Rome-Fiumicino and Rome-Ciampino; by train, the main station is Rome Termini, connected to the rest of the city by metro and bus.
Participation is via passes (full pass, day passes, and party formulas) which can be purchased online on the ticketing platforms indicated by the organizers. Early booking is recommended as spots are limited.
The festival takes place in a hotel that often offers discounted rates for participants; alternatively, there is no shortage of hotels and accommodation facilities in the Aurelia area and nearby.
