About Rome Celtic Festival

The Rome Celtic Festival transforms the Città dell'Altra Economia in Testaccio into an authentic Celtic village in the heart of Rome. This free two-day event celebrates the myths, legends, rituals, and traditions of ancient Northern European peoples, featuring folk and medieval music, Irish and Scottish dancing, historical re-enactments with live duels, craft markets, workshops, and artisanal beers. A deep dive into the Celtic imagination just a stone's throw from the Tiber.

A Celtic village in the heart of Rome

The Rome Celtic Festival is the Capital's premier event dedicated entirely to Celtic culture, music, and legend. For two days, the grounds of the former slaughterhouse at the Città dell'Altra Economia, in the Testaccio district (Municipality of Rome, Province of Rome, Lazio), are transformed into a genuine Celtic village: a portal to myth that welcomes families, enthusiasts, and curious visitors alike with a blend of sounds, European folklore, and popular culture.

What to expect

The festival is a journey through time, exploring the myths, legends, rituals, and traditions of ancient Northern European tribes. The stage and themed areas host folk and medieval music concerts, featuring drums, fiddles, and bagpipes, Irish and Scottish dance performances with open lessons for the public, and spectacular historical re-enactments with live duels, weapons, armor, and meticulously reconstructed encampments.

  • Folk and medieval Celtic music concerts
  • Irish and Scottish dance performances with demonstrations and open lessons
  • Historical re-enactments, duels, and encampments
  • Workshops and talks on Celtic myths, rituals, and spirituality
  • Themed craft markets
  • Food court with gastronomic specialties and artisanal beers

Where and when

The event is held at the Città dell'Altra Economia, in Largo Dino Frisullo, in Rome's Testaccio district, one of the city's most vibrant spaces for outdoor cultural events. Admission is free with reservation, making the festival accessible to everyone, from children to adults passionate about Celtic culture and historical re-enactment.

An event for the whole family

Between bagpipes, swords, druids, and folk beer, the Rome Celtic Festival is designed for audiences of all ages: those looking for live music, those wanting to discover Celtic crafts and spirituality, and families bringing children to explore a world of myths and legends. A weekend that brings a corner of Northern Europe to the heart of Testaccio, amidst the popular and convivial atmosphere that makes the Roman summer unique.
