The Capital's premier Celtic event, featuring myths, bagpipes, and re-enactments in Testaccio
The Rome Celtic Festival is the Capital's premier event dedicated entirely to Celtic culture, music, and legend. For two days, the grounds of the former slaughterhouse at the Città dell'Altra Economia, in the Testaccio district (Municipality of Rome, Province of Rome, Lazio), are transformed into a genuine Celtic village: a portal to myth that welcomes families, enthusiasts, and curious visitors alike with a blend of sounds, European folklore, and popular culture.
The festival is a journey through time, exploring the myths, legends, rituals, and traditions of ancient Northern European tribes. The stage and themed areas host folk and medieval music concerts, featuring drums, fiddles, and bagpipes, Irish and Scottish dance performances with open lessons for the public, and spectacular historical re-enactments with live duels, weapons, armor, and meticulously reconstructed encampments.
The event is held at the Città dell'Altra Economia, in Largo Dino Frisullo, in Rome's Testaccio district, one of the city's most vibrant spaces for outdoor cultural events. Admission is free with reservation, making the festival accessible to everyone, from children to adults passionate about Celtic culture and historical re-enactment.
Between bagpipes, swords, druids, and folk beer, the Rome Celtic Festival is designed for audiences of all ages: those looking for live music, those wanting to discover Celtic crafts and spirituality, and families bringing children to explore a world of myths and legends. A weekend that brings a corner of Northern Europe to the heart of Testaccio, amidst the popular and convivial atmosphere that makes the Roman summer unique.
The Rome Celtic Festival 2026 brought the Città dell'Altra Economia in Testaccio to life over the weekend of May 30-31, transforming the former slaughterhouse into a free-entry Celtic village. The program featured folk and medieval music concerts, Irish and Scottish dance performances, historical re-enactments with duels and encampments, workshops on Celtic spirituality, themed craft markets, and an area dedicated to gastronomic specialties and artisanal beers.
