The Romantic Night of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy is a national event promoted by the "I Borghi più Belli d'Italia" association. Every year, on the first Saturday night of summer, it simultaneously illuminates over two hundred villages across the peninsula with a program dedicated to love and the beauty of small towns. Cocconato, a jewel of the Asti Monferrato and a proud member of the network, participates with enthusiasm, transforming its historic center into an open-air stage filled with soft lighting, music, words, and flavors.
A village made for lovers
Nicknamed the Riviera of Monferrato for its mild climate that allows olive trees, palms, and mimosas to thrive, Cocconato is built around Piazza Cavour—still called "the Bridge" by locals, in memory of the drawbridge of the Counts Radicati castle—and along Via Roma, with its porticoes, Liberty-style buildings, and panoramic views of the vineyards. It is in this setting, dominated by the historic Torre dei Radicati, that the Romantic Night finds its ideal stage.
Themed dinners, art, and poetry
The heart of the evening lies in the romantic dinners offered by the village's restaurants and osterias, featuring menus dedicated to the love of food and, inevitably, a special dessert created just for the occasion. After dinner, the historic center comes alive: the streets turn into an open-air art gallery featuring works by local artists, while live music and readings of love poetry accompany the evening strolls of couples and visitors.
Cocconato, Orange Flag of Monferrato
Awarded the Orange Flag by the Italian Touring Club, Cocconato (province of Asti, Piedmont) is a village of just under 1,400 inhabitants nestled in the hilly landscape of the Monferrato, a UNESCO World Heritage site. A land of great wines promoted by the Consorzio Cocconato Riviera del Monferrato, the village is also famous for the Sant'Orso Fair on April 25th and the Cocco…Wine food and wine festival. The Romantic Night is the perfect opportunity to discover this corner of Piedmont in its most evocative form.
Romantic Night — edition 2026
L'edizione 2026 della Notte Romantica dei Borghi più Belli d'Italia si svolge sabato 20 giugno 2026, nella notte del primo sabato d'estate, coinvolgendo simultaneamente oltre 220 borghi in tutta Italia. Il filo conduttore scelto a livello nazionale è L'Amore per i ricordi, un tema che invita i borghi a valorizzare la memoria e l'identità dei propri territori attraverso musica, spettacoli dal vivo, teatro, cultura, arte e gastronomia.
Cocconato figura tra i borghi piemontesi aderenti che hanno già comunicato il proprio programma. Come da tradizione, il borgo astigiano accompagna la serata con cene romantiche nei ristoranti del centro, musica dal vivo, mostre d'arte diffuse e letture di poesie tra le vie illuminate, in un'atmosfera intima pensata per le coppie e per chi ama i piccoli borghi.
Programme Romantic Night 2026
La Notte Romantica 2026 a Cocconato si svolge sabato 20 giugno, sul tema nazionale L'Amore per i ricordi. Sulla base del consueto svolgimento della serata nel borgo, il programma prevede:
- Cene a tema nei ristoranti e nelle osterie del centro storico, con menù dedicati all'amore per il cibo e un dolce speciale creato per l'occasione (prenotazione consigliata).
- Galleria d'arte diffusa nel centro storico, con le opere degli artisti del territorio.
- Musica dal vivo e letture di poesie d'amore lungo le vie del borgo dopo cena.

How to get there
Cocconato can be reached by car from the A21 motorway (Asti Est or Villanova d'Asti exit) or via the provincial road connecting Chivasso to Monferrato; the village is about 30 km from Asti and 45 km from Turin. The Cocconato train station is located on the Chivasso–Asti line.
