Northern & Rare Soul on original vinyl in Trastevere
Since 2008, the Roma Soul City Alldayer has been Rome's most important event dedicated to Northern & Rare Soul. Born from the passion of a group of DJs and collectors, it has become a national benchmark for 1960s and 70s soul enthusiasts, drawing dancers and connoisseurs from all over Italy and abroad. The format is that of an alldayer: a long, immersive event that kicks off in the afternoon and continues well into the night.
The hallmark of the event is its absolute fidelity to the format: the music is played exclusively on original 45s, with no digital media, following the tradition of the British clubs that gave life to the Northern Soul movement in the 1970s. Resident DJs and international guests take turns at the decks, with selections ranging from northern soul to crossover, modern soul, funk, and even jazz.
The venue is Pinispettinati, a charming open space hidden among the alleys of Trastevere, one of the most authentic districts in Rome, Lazio. With its wooden dance floor, food stalls serving Roman cuisine and street food (including vegetarian and vegan options), and a tight-knit crowd, the atmosphere is that of a true neighborhood block party: informal, warm, and engaging.
More than just a concert or a dance night, the Roma Soul City Alldayer is the annual gathering of a community. Soul lovers find not only music here, but also the pleasure of sharing: record swaps, conversations between collectors, and the feeling of being part of something unique. It is this combination of high-quality music, a convivial spirit, and the Trastevere setting that makes this one of the most anticipated events of the year for the genre's fans in the capital.
The 2026 edition, the eighteenth of the event, was held on Saturday, May 16, from 5:00 PM to 12:30 AM at the Pinispettinati space in the heart of Trastevere. As per tradition, the day was entirely dedicated to Northern & Rare Soul played exclusively on original 45s, in a neighborhood block-party atmosphere with a wooden floor and Roman cuisine.
Spazio Pinispettinati, Trastevere district, Rome (RM), Lazio. The venue is located within the neighborhood's alleys, easily reachable on foot from the Viale di Trastevere area and tram stops.
By tram: line 8 to Trastevere. By train: Roma Trastevere station, followed by a short walk or tram ride. Driving is not recommended due to the difficulty of parking in the historic center.
The event runs from the afternoon until after midnight. For information on admission, reservations, and on-site dining, please contact the organizers at +39 348 2656943 or via email at [email protected].
