About Rive Rare

Rive Rare is the festival of the Po riverbank held at Lido Po in Guastalla, in the province of Reggio Emilia. For two days in mid-April, over 180 exhibitors of crafts, food and wine, and horticulture showcase their products alongside more than 50 workshops, performances, and labs dedicated to the relationship between humans, nature, and well-being. An immersive event in the green riverbank area, designed for adults and children, to rediscover rare plants, ancient crafts, local products, and the connection with the Great River.

A festival born on the Po riverbank

Rive Rare is an event that brings the public into the heart of the Po riverbank, in the green spaces of Lido Po in Guastalla, in the Bassa Reggiana area (province of Reggio Emilia, Emilia-Romagna). Organized by the Associazione Guastallese Gemellaggi ed Eventi, the festival celebrates the relationship between man and nature through three main themes: *horticulture* with rare plants and seasonal flowers, handmade *crafts*, and the *flavors* of local tradition.

Over 180 exhibitors and more than 50 events

The offering is rich and spread throughout the entire riverbank area: over 180 exhibitors divided into sections for crafts (ceramics, textiles, embroidery), food and wine (local products and traditional recipes), and horticulture (rare plants and flowers), complemented by more than 50 workshops, performances, and labs for adults and children.

Thematic areas

The festival is organized into numerous themed spaces, each with its own identity:

  • Golena Lab — creative workshops for making botanical candles, jewelry, dreamcatchers, and embroidery.
  • Foce del Crostolo — workshops dedicated to sundials and sun traps.
  • Il Tarassaco — educational walks on riverbank herbs and their culinary uses.
  • Antichi Mestieri (Ancient Crafts) — demonstrations of traditional crafts from riverside communities.
  • Casa Vecchia — focus on ancient grains and sourdough.
  • Bio Fan — workshops with natural materials like branches, flowers, and grass.
  • Podere della Golena — children's gardens and donkey rides.
  • Fattoria degli Animali (Animal Farm) — farm animals curated by Aerav.
  • Antichi Giochi (Ancient Games) — traditional recreational activities.
  • Atelier sul Fiume (River Workshop) — readings and workshops with natural materials for children.

A family event in the green of the Great River

Rive Rare is designed as a day to be spent outdoors, immersed in the river landscape. Between an educational walk and a workshop, the festival invites visitors to slow down and rediscover the rhythms of nature and the knowledge of the communities that have always inhabited the banks of the Po. The event is ideally linked to *Piante e Animali Perduti* (Lost Plants and Animals), the historic autumn event promoted by the same Guastalla association.

Rive Rare — edition 2026

The first edition of Rive Rare took place on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Lido Po in Guastalla. Over 180 exhibitors and more than 50 workshops, performances, and labs animated the Po riverbank, with a program spread across numerous thematic areas dedicated to nature, crafts, and local flavors.

The 2026 edition of Rive Rare was held on April 18 and 19 at Lido Po in Guastalla, inaugurated on the morning of Saturday, April 18. After the cancellation of the first edition planned for 2025 due to the risk of the Po river flooding, the festival finally came to life on the riverbank, with the patronage of the Municipality of Guastalla, the Union of Bassa Reggiana, and Destinazione Turistica Emilia.

Visitors could explore over 180 exhibitors divided among crafts, food and wine, and horticulture, and participate in more than 50 events including workshops, performances, and labs.
