Three nights of free jazz under the ancient holm oak in Piazza Perin del Vaga, in the Flaminio district
The Rive Gauche Jazz Festival was born in 2026 as a grassroots event, transforming Piazza Perin del Vaga, in the Flaminio district of Rome, into an open-air musical theatre. The event takes place in the shade of one of the capital's most majestic and fascinating holm oaks, an ancient tree that envelops the square, creating an oasis of coolness and serenity—the perfect setting for live music at sunset.
Flaminio is one of the most vibrant districts in North Rome, just a stone's throw from the banks of the Tiber and easily accessible by public transport. In this urban and cultural setting, the festival's first edition offers a vision of accessible, local jazz, deeply rooted in the life of the neighbourhood and open to the entire city. The initiative is a natural addition to the musical tradition of Rome and the Lazio region, offering three evenings of free music to residents and visitors alike.
From June 19 to 21, 2026, every evening from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, the stage will feature a rotation of Italian and international jazz ensembles:
All concerts are free to attend. The organisers have designed the festival as an open and inclusive space: hence the invitation to «Bring your own chair», encouraging the audience to help create a shared gathering place where the square becomes the neighbourhood's living room.
The third and final evening coincides with the Fête de la Musique on June 21, the international celebration that fills streets and squares with free concerts every year. The Rive Gauche Jazz Festival joins this tradition, bringing jazz to the residents of Flaminio and the many enthusiasts who visit Rome for the occasion.
The event is promoted by La Maison Rive Gauche and Etablino Caffè Due Fontane, in collaboration with the Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti (IUC) and with the support of the Department of Culture of the Municipality II of Rome.
The festival inaugurated its first edition with three free open-air concerts hosted under the ancient holm oak of Piazza Perin del Vaga, in the heart of Rome's Flaminio district. Three consecutive evenings dedicated to jazz, from sunset onwards, featuring emerging and established ensembles from the Italian and international scenes.
Piazza Perin del Vaga, Flaminio district, 00196 Rome (RM), Lazio.
The square is located in North Rome, near the Tiber and the Flaminio district. It is easily accessible by public transport (Metro Line A, Flaminio stop, and various bus lines) or on foot from the riverbanks. We recommend using public transport due to limited parking in the area.
Concerts every evening from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Admission is free. We recommend bringing a folding chair, in line with the organisers' «Bring your own chair» invitation.
