A community dinner and Resistance songs in memory of the Cervi family
The Rivarone Anti-Fascist Pasta Festival is an annual event that blends historical memory, community spirit, and music in the small town of Rivarone, located in the province of Alessandria, in the heart of Piedmont. The evening takes place on Via Contrada Grande, bringing together locals and visitors for a simple yet deeply meaningful gesture: sharing a plate of pasta in the name of freedom.
The initiative is rooted in a specific episode of Italian history. On July 25, 1943, the day the fascist regime fell and Benito Mussolini was arrested, the Cervi family from Campegine, in the province of Reggio Emilia, distributed pasta with butter and parmesan in the town square to celebrate with their community. From that gesture, a tradition was born, promoted throughout Italy by the ANPI and finding a heartfelt expression in Rivarone, in collaboration with the Alcide Cervi Institute.
The festival features a convivial dinner where pasta is offered free of charge to all participants, accompanied by other courses such as appetizers and dessert. After dinner, the stage is set for live music, with songs and stories of the Resistance that recount the history of Italian anti-fascism. The event is held in the spirit of freedom, inclusion, equality, and justice, within a warm and participatory atmosphere.
The Rivarone Anti-Fascist Pasta Festival is much more than just a dinner: it is a moment of community where the history of the Resistance is passed down through food, music, and memory, keeping the anti-fascist legacy alive for the new generations of the Alessandria area.
The second edition of the Rivarone Anti-Fascist Pasta Festival was held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, on Via Contrada Grande 31. The evening began at 8:00 PM with dinner, during which a plate of pasta was offered free of charge to all participants, along with appetizers and dessert. From 9:30 PM, the group Egin entertained the evening with the most famous Resistance songs. The initiative, under the patronage of ANPI and the Alcide Cervi Institute, renewed the memory of the Cervi family and the values of anti-fascism.
