The under-35 arts, music, and theatre festival in Montevaccino, on Monte Calisio
The Risalite Festival is a summer arts, music, and theatre event dedicated to artists under 35, held in Montevaccino, a village in the municipality of Trento nestled on the slopes of Monte Calisio, in Trentino-Alto Adige. Established in 2023 by the Spazio PierA Association under the artistic direction of Giulio Macrì, the festival transforms the streets, park, library, and public spaces of the small village into a sprawling stage every August, where contemporary creation meets the local community.
The festival's programme is proudly multidisciplinary: contemporary and puppet theatre, dance, concerts, performances, visual art installations, workshops, and participatory meetings are woven throughout the event. Each edition revolves around a theme that serves as a common thread for the works and reflections presented, often exploring the relationship between humanity, nature, and Alpine traditions. Many creations are site-specific, designed specifically for the village spaces and the landscape of Monte Calisio, in collaboration with partners such as the Ecomuseo dell'Argentario.
The Risalite Festival was born from a desire to bring art and culture to peripheral and mountain areas in a sustainable and accessible way. The festival actively involves the inhabitants of Montevaccino and local associations, offering family-friendly moments with children's shows, workshops, and a local artisan craft market. The event is part of the city's cultural summer calendar and, for the 2026 edition, is included in the Trento Aperta programme promoted by the Municipality of Trento.
With a symbolic entry fee and a strong community focus, the Risalite Festival stands out in the Trentino region as an event that combines artistic research, sustainability, and the promotion of small villages. Evening concerts, tastings of local products, hikes, and installations complete an experience that invites visitors to rediscover the mountains as a place for gathering and shared creation.
From August 17 to 23, 2026, the Risalite Festival returns to Montevaccino (Municipality of Trento) with an edition dedicated to the theme of "Borders", interpreted as territorial frontiers and invisible lines traced by the landscape of Monte Calisio.
The programme includes performances, a concert, a participatory meeting, and visits to artistic interventions created in the village's public spaces, as well as two exhibitions hosted in the "Castello di Carta" library, along with dance, music, talks, and discussion panels. In collaboration with the Ecomuseo dell'Argentario, an itinerary on Monte Calisio is planned. Sunday is specifically designed for families, featuring a children's show, dedicated workshop activities, and a local artisan craft market.
The 2026 edition is part of the Trento Aperta programme promoted by the Municipality of Trento.
