The popular festival of the Communist Refoundation Party featuring food, music, and debates at Largo Venezia
For over thirty years, in the heart of summer, the Anzio Colonia neighborhood has transformed into a large meeting space thanks to the Liberation Festival, better known as Rifondazione in Festa. The event, organized by the "Ernesto Che Guevara" Communist Refoundation Party Circle of Anzio, traditionally takes place at Largo Venezia, in the park area, and has become one of the most deeply rooted and recognizable summer events on the coast south of Rome.
Born as a party festival, the event has evolved over the years into a true neighborhood gathering: a place where generations of residents and vacationers meet to dine outdoors, listen to live music, and discuss current events. With over thirty editions, Rifondazione in Festa is among the longest-running popular festivals in the province of Rome and the entire Lazio region.
The program spans about ten evenings and revolves around three recurring elements, which the organizers jokingly call the "weapons" of the festival: food, music, and debates. Every evening, the food stall opens, offering traditional dishes at popular prices, while the stage hosts free concerts, cover bands, Roman music nights, and jam sessions.
Rifondazione in Festa maintains its political identity and commitment: recent editions have focused on themes of peace, solidarity, and criticism of social inequalities. However, the atmosphere remains primarily that of a community festival, where the volunteer work of militants and supporters brings the kitchens, stalls, and event organization to life.
Its location in Anzio Colonia, just a few steps from the sea, makes the event a pleasant stop for summer evenings on the coast: after a day at the beach, residents and tourists can stop for a simple dinner, a concert, and a chat in a welcoming, grassroots setting.
The municipality of Anzio, in the province of Rome (Lazio region), is a well-known seaside resort famous for its beaches, port, and historical heritage linked to the 1944 Allied landing. In this context, the Liberation Festival of Anzio Colonia represents a small piece of memory and summer social life, which every year renews the appointment between different generations of locals and vacationers.
The Liberation Festival promoted by the "Ernesto Che Guevara" Communist Refoundation Circle returns to Anzio Colonia. The 2026 edition is scheduled from July 31st to August 9th, as usual at Largo Venezia, in the park area.
This year, the festival once again features its traditional "weapons": the food stall, live music, debates, the raffle, and the joy of popular evenings. The guiding theme declared by the organizers is that of peace and social commitment.
The detailed program, including concerts, meetings, and evening events, will be released by the organizers in the days leading up to the start of the festival. Admission is free.
The festival is held at Largo Venezia (park area), in the Anzio Colonia neighborhood, in the municipality of Anzio (province of Rome, Lazio).
