Journalist Francesca Santolini at the Forte di Gavi to discuss climate and politics for Attraverso Festival 2026
Among the intellectual highlights of the 11th edition of Attraverso Festival is the event in Gavi, an elegant village in lower Piedmont, in the province of Alessandria, world-renowned for its white wine. On Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 6:00 PM, the historic Forte di Gavi will welcome journalist Francesca Santolini for the talk 'Climate and Politics', a conversation that weaves together current environmental affairs and civic reflection in a truly evocative setting.
A science journalist and environmental communicator, Francesca Santolini contributes to the daily newspaper La Stampa, where she covers environment, climate, and sustainability. Author of numerous essays, including Ecofascisti. Estrema destra e ambiente (Einaudi, 2024), Profughi del clima, and Un nuovo clima, she brings to Gavi a reflection on the link between the climate emergency and political decision-making. The talk explores how climate change challenges institutions, political parties, and public opinion, offering the audience keys to understanding one of the central challenges of our time.
The Gavi event is part of Attraverso Festival, a widespread cultural festival that runs from July 13 to September 19, 2026, across the territories of southern Piedmont recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites: Langhe, Roero, Monferrato, and the Piedmontese Apennines. With dozens of events distributed across numerous municipalities in the provinces of Alessandria, Asti, and Cuneo, the festival offers monologues, recitals, civic storytelling, talks, and concerts in squares, parks, wineries, and historic complexes.
The event is a project by the Cultural Association Hiroshima Mon Amour ETS and Produzioni Fuorivia, in collaboration with the Management Body of the Piedmontese Apennine Protected Areas and with the patronage of UNESCO for the Vineyard Landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Piedmont Region, and various foundations.
Choosing the Forte di Gavi as a stage means combining the cultural quality of the festival with the evocative power of a historic site. The fortress, which dominates the village and the Province of Alessandria from its rocky spur, offers an ideal setting for a late-summer meeting, where culture, landscape, and memory blend into an experience typical of the Apennine Piedmont. During the festival, guided tours of the area are also available, organized by the Aimero Cooperative of Carrosio.
The event is free with mandatory reservation, managed through the official Attraverso Festival channels. Given the nature of the event and the venue's capacity, early booking is recommended.
