The PGI Red Orange Festival of Sicily in Scordia
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Red Orange Fest is the event that transforms Scordia, in the heart of the Catania province, into the capital of the PGI Red Orange of Sicily every spring. Known as the "City of Red Oranges," Scordia owes its fame to the ideal climatic conditions of the plain between Catania and Syracuse, which favor the cultivation of this renowned citrus, particularly the Tarocco variety. For an entire weekend, the town's historic center becomes a grand open-air stage dedicated to Sicilian taste, culture, and folklore.
The festival's centerpiece is undoubtedly the famous "Longest Table in Europe": nearly 200 meters of banquet tables winding along Via Guglielmino, where red oranges and local gourmet delicacies are offered for tasting. It is a convivial experience that captures the welcoming spirit of Sicily, where food, community, and tradition merge into one great street festival.
During the festival, the streets and squares of Scordia host a packed calendar of events:
More than just a food festival, the Red Orange Fest is a celebration of the identity of Scordia and all of Eastern Sicily. Between painted carts, music in the Sicilian dialect, and the intense scent of freshly squeezed oranges, the event attracts visitors from across the region and beyond, showcasing a product of excellence recognized at the European level with the PGI label.
The 2026 edition of the Red Orange Fest is currently being planned in Scordia, in the province of Catania. Official dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: the festival traditionally takes place in April, coinciding with the harvest season of the PGI Red Orange of Sicily. Visitors are invited to check the official channels of the Municipality of Scordia for updates on dates, guests, and the event calendar.
Scordia is located in the province of Catania, in Eastern Sicily. By car, it is reachable via the SS194 Catania-Ragusa road. The Scordia railway station is served by the Catania-Caltagirone-Gela line. The nearest airport is Catania-Fontanarossa, approximately 40 km away.
Admission to the festival and square events is generally free; tastings and purchases of local products are available for a fee at the stands.
The event takes place in the historic center and is primarily pedestrianized: it is advisable to park in the surrounding areas. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking along Via Guglielmino and the "Longest Table."
