The Stelvio Challenge

Re Stelvio Mapei is one of the most iconic sporting events in the Upper Valtellina. The race starts from Bormio, in the province of Sondrio, and climbs to Stelvio Pass, at an altitude of 2,758 meters, along the hairpin bends that have written the history of the Giro d'Italia and great international cycling. It is a mythical climb, among the toughest and most spectacular in the Alps, capable of attracting enthusiasts from all over Europe every year.

Cyclists and Runners Together

The unique feature of Re Stelvio Mapei is its format, which tests two disciplines on the same route: the cycling granfondo and the uphill running race. In total, the event attracts over 3,000 participants, between those who tackle the climb on pedals and those who run it, in a mix that makes the event unique in the panorama of alpine races.

An Event of International Appeal

Now in its 41st edition, Re Stelvio Mapei confirms itself as an international-level event, further enhanced by the 2026 Olympic season which sees Bormio among the host locations for the Winter Games. The setting of the Stelvio National Park and the route's altitude profile make the race an unforgettable experience for athletes and spectators.
