Two evenings of flavor and tradition dedicated to beans in the heart of the Peligna Valley

The Raiano Bean Festival is one of the most beloved gastronomic events of the summer in the town of Raiano, located in the province of L'Aquila in the heart of the Peligna Valley. The festival is entirely dedicated to the bean, a symbol of local rural cuisine, and offers a chance to rediscover the authentic flavors of Abruzzo's culinary heritage in a festive and convivial atmosphere.
The heart of the festival is the food stalls set up in Piazza Umberto Postiglione, the center of Raiano's historic district. Every evening, starting at 7:30 PM, visitors can enjoy numerous specialties prepared primarily with beans, following traditional Peligna peasant recipes, alongside other local dishes. This simple and genuine approach has been the event's strength for years, drawing both residents and visitors from neighboring towns.
Beyond the food, the Bean Festival offers a rich entertainment program. The evenings are enlivened by live music, DJ sets, and dancing: recent editions have featured local DJs and open-air dance parties, turning the festival into a social gathering for all ages that lasts late into the night.
Organized by the Pro Loco Raiano with the patronage of the Municipality, the festival is a recurring summer appointment in Raiano, documented for several years. It is part of the rich calendar of festivals in the Peligna Valley, a territory also known for the Gole di San Venanzio and a strong tradition tied to local produce. The Bean Festival thus represents a way for Raiano and inland Abruzzo to showcase local crops and keep the roots of peasant cooking alive.
The event generally takes place in the second half of July in Piazza Umberto Postiglione in Raiano (AQ). The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: it is recommended to check the official channels of the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Raiano for the updated program.
