Art, inclusion, and urban regeneration in the heart of the Nebrodi mountains
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Radica Festival is one of the most vibrant cultural highlights of the summer in San Marco d'Alunzio, a medieval village perched within the Nebrodi Park in the province of Messina. For a few days each July, the entire town becomes an immersive stage: music, theatre, dance, visual arts, performances, and workshops blend seamlessly within the village's historic sites, with a constant focus on inclusion and community participation.
The beating heart of the event is the former Badia Grande Monastery, a site steeped in history that fills with exhibitions, concerts, shows, and installations during the festival. Other local venues, such as the Santa Maria dei Poveri Auditorium, host the workshops. The choice of locations is intentional: Radica Festival was born as a project of urban regeneration, aiming to return public spaces to the community as open, vibrant, and accessible areas.
The festival is promoted by the Tre60 Lab association, founded in 2015 by local youth with the goal of bringing art and culture to the Nebrodi villages and the surrounding coast. The event is entirely free and open to everyone, supported by crowdfunding campaigns and the patronage of the Municipality of San Marco d'Alunzio—a commitment that makes free, accessible culture its hallmark.
Each edition features a diverse lineup:
The result is a widespread celebration that, for a few nights, transforms San Marco d'Alunzio into an open-air laboratory of art and social interaction, drawing visitors from across Sicily.
Attending Radica Festival is also the perfect opportunity to explore one of the most charming villages in the Nebrodi: stone alleys, Baroque churches, local red marble, and panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea make San Marco d'Alunzio a fascinating destination in the province of Messina.
Radica Festival is set to return to San Marco d'Alunzio (Messina) in the summer of 2026, continuing the tradition that has brought the Nebrodi village to life every July for years.
At the moment, the dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced and the detailed program has not been published. Based on past editions, the event is expected to maintain its identity: a free and inclusive multidisciplinary arts festival, featuring concerts, DJ sets, theatrical performances, visual arts exhibitions, and workshops, hosted primarily in the former Badia Grande Monastery.
To stay updated on the final dates and program, it is recommended to follow the official channels of the Tre60 Lab association.
San Marco d'Alunzio is located in the Nebrodi mountains, in the province of Messina. The nearest train station is in Sant'Agata di Militello, on the Tyrrhenian line.
Admission to the festival is free and open to all.
Evening events take place outdoors and in the village's historic sites: wear comfortable shoes for the stone alleys. Check the updated dates and program on the official Tre60 Lab association channels before you travel.
