About Mondo Donna

Every late August, Capo d'Orlando, a jewel on the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina, dedicates a special evening to women with the Mondo Donna Award. In Piazza Matteotti, before a large audience, the event honors women who have excelled in various fields: culture, social work, healthcare, sports, journalism, entrepreneurship, and entertainment. Created to give a voice to female talent, the event has evolved into a moment of collective reflection against gender-based violence and femicide, accompanied by music and performances.

Recognizing female talent on the Tyrrhenian shore

The Mondo Donna Award is one of the most cherished summer events in Capo d'Orlando, a seaside town in the Province of Messina, Sicily. Every year, at the end of August, the central Piazza Matteotti transforms into an open-air stage dedicated to women: an evening of awards, testimonials, and entertainment that draws a large and loyal crowd.

History and objectives

Conceived and organized by the Pro Loco of Capo d'Orlando, under the leadership of president Salvatore Monastra and in collaboration with the Municipal Administration and the Academy of Music, the award was created to highlight women's talent, dedication, and creativity. Over the years, the festival has grown into an appointment with strong civic value: beyond celebrating local female excellence, the event has become a spokesperson for the fight against gender inequality and femicide, themes that form its deepest core.

Categories and honorees

The awardees come from diverse backgrounds: social work, healthcare, culture and literature, research, theater, journalism, entrepreneurship, fashion, dance, and sports. Alongside the "Oscars" awarded to figures in public and artistic life, the prize also pays tribute to local institutional figures, such as school principals and representatives of law enforcement serving in Capo d'Orlando.

Music and entertainment

The ceremony is more than just an awards show; the evenings are enlivened by musical performances and live entertainment, making the event a celebration for the entire community. Presentations, stories, and performances alternate on the stage of Piazza Matteotti, in an atmosphere of participation and sharing that blends reflection with emotion.

Looking ahead

With each passing edition, Mondo Donna has gained relevance beyond city limits, thanks to the quality of the awardees and its constant commitment to social issues. The event thus confirms itself as one of the most significant moments of the cultural summer in Capo d'Orlando and the Nebrodi area, an opportunity to celebrate the strength, courage, and creativity of women.

Mondo Donna — edition 2026

The 13th edition of the Mondo Donna Award will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Piazza Matteotti, Capo d'Orlando. The Pro Loco has confirmed the 2026 Mondo Donna Oscar for pop music will go to singer Delia Buglisi, honored for her talent and her constant tribute to Sicilian musical traditions. A live performance as the evening's finale is also being planned, potentially scheduled for Friday, August 28, or Sunday, August 30.

Mondo Donna 2026: the 13th edition

The thirteenth edition of the Mondo Donna Award is confirmed for Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Piazza Matteotti, in the heart of Capo d'Orlando. The Pro Loco, chaired by Salvatore Monastra, in collaboration with the Municipal Administration and the Academy of Music, has already announced the first award of this edition.

The Pop Music Oscar for Delia Buglisi

The 2026 Mondo Donna Oscar for the pop music section has been awarded to singer Delia Buglisi, recognized not only for her talent and voice but also for the constant tribute she pays to Sicilian musical traditions.
