The literary festival of summer nights in Capo d'Orlando
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every summer, the seafront of Capo d'Orlando, a town on the Tyrrhenian coast in the province of Messina, transforms into a large open-air literary salon. Notturno d'Autore – Literary Festival has become one of Sicily's most followed events: a calendar of evenings dedicated to books, debate, and reflection, featuring writers, journalists, magistrates, and prominent figures of Italian culture.
The festival traditionally takes place in the pedestrian area and at the Tourist Port of Capo d'Orlando, two evocative settings overlooking the sea. Meetings usually begin at 9:00 PM, when the heat subsides and the evening stroll becomes the ideal time to listen to an author present their book. The audience is not just a spectator: the format favors direct dialogue, with questions, exchanges, and opportunities for discussion between readers and the protagonists of the national cultural scene.
Each edition revolves around a central theme. The festival spans fiction, current affairs, investigative journalism, and popular science, hosting well-known names from the world of books and media. Over the years, the festival has attracted nationally renowned authors to Capo d'Orlando, helping to make the town a landmark for literary tourism in Sicily during the summer months.
Promoted with the support of the Municipality of Capo d'Orlando and local entities from the Nebrodi area, Notturno d'Autore promotes culture as a tool for social growth, local heritage promotion, and tourism appeal. The event is progressively involving other municipalities in the district, expanding the cultural network of the Nebrodi and the Messina Tyrrhenian coast.
The eleventh edition of Notturno d'Autore was presented at a press conference in Rome, at the Senate of the Republic. The theme chosen for 2026 is "Power and Powers", around which a calendar of meetings with authors, journalists, and cultural figures will revolve. This edition expands its network across the Nebrodi territory, involving the municipalities of Ficarra and Sant'Agata di Militello in addition to the Port of Capo d'Orlando.
The dates for the 2026 edition and the full program of events, including guests and venues, have not yet been made official: the organization will announce them in the weeks following the presentation. It is recommended to follow the official channels of the Municipality of Capo d'Orlando and the festival's Facebook page for updates.
