About Notturno d'Autore

Notturno d'Autore is one of Sicily's most acclaimed literary festivals, held every summer in Capo d'Orlando, in the province of Messina. Between the pedestrian area and the tourist port, the festival offers evenings of meetings with writers, journalists, and key figures of Italian culture, featuring direct dialogues between authors and the public on fiction, current events, investigative journalism, and popular science. A format that blends literary tourism with the summer atmosphere of the Tyrrhenian coast.

Notturno d'Autore, the literary nights of Capo d'Orlando

Every summer, the seafront of Capo d'Orlando, a town on the Tyrrhenian coast in the province of Messina, transforms into a large open-air literary salon. Notturno d'Autore – Literary Festival has become one of Sicily's most followed events: a calendar of evenings dedicated to books, debate, and reflection, featuring writers, journalists, magistrates, and prominent figures of Italian culture.

A blend of sea and culture

The festival traditionally takes place in the pedestrian area and at the Tourist Port of Capo d'Orlando, two evocative settings overlooking the sea. Meetings usually begin at 9:00 PM, when the heat subsides and the evening stroll becomes the ideal time to listen to an author present their book. The audience is not just a spectator: the format favors direct dialogue, with questions, exchanges, and opportunities for discussion between readers and the protagonists of the national cultural scene.

Themes and guests

Each edition revolves around a central theme. The festival spans fiction, current affairs, investigative journalism, and popular science, hosting well-known names from the world of books and media. Over the years, the festival has attracted nationally renowned authors to Capo d'Orlando, helping to make the town a landmark for literary tourism in Sicily during the summer months.

A local commitment

Promoted with the support of the Municipality of Capo d'Orlando and local entities from the Nebrodi area, Notturno d'Autore promotes culture as a tool for social growth, local heritage promotion, and tourism appeal. The event is progressively involving other municipalities in the district, expanding the cultural network of the Nebrodi and the Messina Tyrrhenian coast.

  • Evocative seaside settings, between the pedestrian area and the Tourist Port.
  • Direct dialogue with guests and book signings at the end of the evening.
