About Race for the Cure

Race for the Cure is Italy's largest event dedicated to the fight against breast cancer: four days at Rome's Circus Maximus, from May 7th to 10th, 2026, blending sport, health, and solidarity. Organized by Susan G. Komen Italia, the 27th edition combines a 2 km walk and 5 km and 10 km runs with the expansive Health Village, offering free screenings and medical consultations. A sea of pink shirts floods the heart of the capital alongside the 'Donne in Rosa' (Women in Pink).

The pink marathon for prevention

Race for the Cure is the flagship event of Susan G. Komen Italia and the largest manifestation in Italy and worldwide dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. Every spring, it transforms Rome's Circus Maximus into a massive pink village, where sport, health, and solidarity intertwine to deliver a clear message: prevention saves lives. It is more than just a race; it is a collective celebration that brings together tens of thousands of people in support of the Donne in Rosa, women who are currently facing or have overcome the disease.

Four days in the heart of Rome

The 27th edition takes place from May 7th to 10th, 2026, in the archaeological area of the Circus Maximus, just steps away from the Palatine Hill, the Forum Boarium, and the Mouth of Truth. For four days, this vast green space in the heart of the capital hosts stands, stages, and prevention pathways in one of Rome's most evocative settings. The event is promoted with the support of Roma Capitale and involves institutions, companies, universities, and associations from across the Lazio region.

The Health Village

The beating heart of the Race is the Health Village, where participants can access free comprehensive screening programs, medical consultations, conferences, sports activities, healthy eating workshops, and psychological support. Dedicated prevention pathways are available for specific targets: the 'young women' path for those under 40, a path for women between 40 and 45, sports activity evaluations, and specialist check-ups for those over 65. It is a concrete way in which solidarity translates into health protection.

The race, the walk, and the celebration

The highlight is Sunday, when thousands of people in pink shirts crowd the starting line at Largo Petroselli, near the Mouth of Truth. The program includes the traditional 2 km walk, the 5 km non-competitive run, and the 10 km run, featuring a new competitive race for experienced athletes. Participants are accompanied by an awards ceremony, DJ sets, outdoor picnics, and plenty of entertainment, making the morning a true community celebration.

A year-round commitment

Registering for the Race means supporting Komen Italia's projects on women's health: from research and early diagnosis to patient support. Participation is made through a donation, and every pink shirt worn at the Circus Maximus becomes a gesture of prevention and closeness. In Rome, the leading city of the movement, Race for the Cure has become a staple of spring and a symbol of the capital's civic commitment.

Race for the Cure — edition 2026

The 27th Race for the Cure returned to the Circus Maximus in Rome from May 7th to 10th, 2026, with four days of sport, health, and solidarity. The Health Village, free screenings, runs, and the pink walk supported the fight against breast cancer alongside Komen Italia and the Women in Pink.

The 2026 edition, the twenty-seventh in Rome, took place from May 7th to 10th at the Circus Maximus. The Health Village offered free screenings and medical consultations, conferences, workshops, and prevention pathways dedicated to specific age groups. Sunday saw thousands of people in pink shirts running and walking through the heart of Rome, featuring the new 10 km competitive race alongside the traditional routes.
