Queer Pictures - LGBTQIA+ Story Frames is an auteur film festival that brings queer cinema to the heart of the Roman summer, set within the monumental backdrop of the Baths of Caracalla in Rome, in the Lazio region. Screenings take place inside the Pride Croisette, the cultural village of Rome Pride: it is not just a summer arena, but a vital gathering space where the big screen becomes an opportunity for encounter and collective reflection on contemporary society.

A journey through bodies, identities, and rights

The festival offers a selection of films exploring the most urgent themes of the LGBTQIA+ experience: family and new forms of connection, desire, masculinity, migration, war, memory, and the freedom of bodily self-determination. Each evening brings together Italian and international films, established auteurs, and emerging perspectives, with the goal of telling stories that have often remained on the margins and restoring their centrality and dignity.

More than just screenings: the talks

What makes Queer Pictures an event rather than just a film series is the talk that precedes every movie. These meetings are moderated by Morgana, the drag alter ego of actor and performer Francesco Maggi, and feature guests from the worlds of culture, activism, journalism, and entertainment. It is a moment of insight that deepens the viewing experience, contextualizes the works, and stimulates debate with the audience under the sky of one of the Capital's most evocative archaeological sites.

Organizers

The festival is promoted as part of Rome Pride and the Pride Croisette, the village artistically directed by Daniele Palano. The talks are curated by the Circolo di Cultura Omosessuale Mario Mieli, a historic Roman LGBTQIA+ association. The initiative is realized with the support of Roma Capitale - Department of Culture and Zètema Progetto Cultura, as part of the Estate Romana program.
