Quartirolo Festival (Our Lady of the Snows)

A tradition spanning half a century

The Quartirolo Festival is one of the most deeply rooted summer events in the Municipality of Carpi, in the province of Modena, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. Organized by the Parish of Our Lady of the Snows, in the Quartirolo district, the festival was founded in 1975 on the initiative of Don Nellusco Carretti and has spanned the decades, maintaining its original spirit intact: to unite the community around the patronal feast of Our Lady of the Snows, which falls on August 5th.

Faith and popular celebration

The festival has always intertwined the religious dimension with the convivial one. The evenings animate the parish for several weekends between mid-July and early August, while liturgical moments mark the calendar: celebrations with parish choirs, the "Pardon of Assisi," and, above all, the solemn Mass on August 5th, traditionally presided over by the Bishop of Carpi, followed by the Marian procession through the streets of the district. It is the most heartfelt moment, where the popular celebration rediscovers its roots of faith.

The Emilian table takes center stage

The beating heart of the event are the food stalls, where the traditional cuisine of the Modena lowlands is offered in a familiar and welcoming atmosphere. The festival restaurant serves local dishes, from tortelli to Emilian specialties, alongside the famous gnoccheria with its fragrant fried gnocco. The cuisine is creative and generous, with menus that change on different evenings.

Families, groups of friends, and visitors find the authentic atmosphere of Emilian summers: the aroma of food, live music, outdoor tables, and that sense of belonging that only parish festivals can preserve. With its half-century of history, the Quartirolo Festival remains one of the most genuine expressions of Emilia-Romagna's festive tradition.
