Italian film festival in the heart of the Quadraro district, Rome
«Quadraro in Luce – The Italian Cinema You Haven't Seen» is the film festival curated by the Stone Head A.P.S. association, the cultural circle that has been enlivening Quadraro, one of the most distinctive neighborhoods in Rome's Municipio VII, for years. The project was selected and supported by the «Roma tutto l'anno» grant promoted by Roma Capitale, the municipality that funds cultural programming across the city throughout the year.
The festival's title is both an invitation and a promise: to bring lesser-known Italian cinema back to the theater—rare works, films forgotten by major distribution, and movies that tell stories of the suburbs and labor. Many of the featured titles have a direct link to the neighborhood: Quadraro and the nearby Cinecittà were natural sets for generations of directors, and more than one scene in the history of Italian cinema was filmed right on these streets. The festival thus becomes a way to rediscover a heritage and, at the same time, to reinterpret the memory of the territory.
More than just a film schedule, «Quadraro in Luce» is a community project. Screenings are accompanied by meetings, debates, and presentations, and are designed to be accessible to all, with free admission. The initiative is part of the long tradition of cultural participation in Quadraro, a neighborhood known for its history of resistance and a strong sense of belonging that can still be felt in its squares today.
The festival runs throughout the year, with a schedule distributed from April 2025 to April 2026, in the Quadraro district of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region. An event designed for the residents of Municipio VII but open to all cinema lovers who want to discover a different side of Rome—the one of the suburbs and its stories on the big screen.
In the first months of 2026, the festival curated by Stone Head A.P.S. continued its Italian cinema programming in the heart of Quadraro, Rome, closing the cycle funded by the «Roma tutto l'anno» grant from Roma Capitale. The evenings confirmed the project's formula: free screenings of lesser-known or forgotten films, often linked to the history of the neighborhood and nearby Cinecittà, accompanied by moments of discussion with the public.
An opportunity to rediscover the Roman suburbs as a place of cinema and community, in the Municipio VII of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region.
Quadraro is located in Rome's Municipio VII, well-connected by the Metro Line A (Porta Furba – Quadraro and Numidio Quadrato stops) and numerous urban bus lines. By car, the neighborhood is accessible via the Tuscolana and Appia Nuova roads.
Screenings are free of charge. For the updated program and specific venue details for each evening, we recommend following the channels of the Stone Head A.P.S. association.
