About Profumo di Cedro

In Montjovet, the chainsaw becomes an art tool: "Profumo di Cedro" is the international chainsaw wood sculpture competition that brings some of the world's best sculptors to the Berriat sports area. Between speed carving, official competition, and Sunday awards, artists transform large logs into spectacular works before the public's eyes. A unique event, part of the patronal feast of the Aosta Valley village.

The art of the chainsaw on stage in Montjovet

Profumo di Cedro is an international chainsaw wood sculpture competition held in Montjovet, a municipality in the lower Aosta Valley near Aosta, as part of the Patronal Feast. The event, hosted in the sports area of the Berriat district, brings together Italian and international sculptors who compete to shape large logs of wood using only chainsaws, in front of the public.

Speed carving and official competition

The competition is divided into several stages: speed carving, speed trials where artists create a sculpture in a limited time, and the official competition, which takes place over several days culminating in Sunday's awards ceremony. The theme is chosen each time by the municipal administration, and the created works remain the property of the Municipality, enriching the territory.

An event of international appeal

Having grown year by year, the event has become a major draw for fans of this particular art form, capable of attracting sculptors from various countries to Montjovet. Organized by Polisportiva Montjovet ASD with the support of the Municipality and the Aosta Valley Region, it is now one of the highlights of the Patronal Feast and a showcase for the Aosta Valley village.
