Art, music, and craftsmanship along the Corso of Palazzolo Acreide
Prisma – Art Festival is a vibrant summer event held along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the main artery of the historic center of Palazzolo Acreide, a town in the Province of Syracuse set among the Iblei Mountains in Sicily. Curated by the Akrai Musica 2 Association, the festival aims to use art as a tool for connection, growth, and the rediscovery of the territory of ancient Akrai, the Syracusan colony that gave rise to the city.
As the name suggests, Prisma refracts various forms of artistic expression in many directions. Along the Corso, photography exhibitions, live painting sessions, and displays dedicated to the memory of local artists alternate with stalls from local artisans: from handmade guitars to bespoke tailoring and works by art school students. In the evenings, the festival lights up with live concerts ranging from acoustic rock to electronic, singer-songwriter styles, and indie pop.
Prisma is more than just entertainment: the festival hosts cultural meetings and talks with scholars and archaeologists dedicated to promoting the ager acrensis and the historical-archaeological heritage of Palazzolo Acreide, a city included in the Val di Noto circuit, a UNESCO World Heritage site for its Baroque architecture. The evenings thus become an opportunity to recount the history, prehistory, and traditions of this corner of the Iblei.
Part of the town's cultural season, Prisma is a free-admission event that invites residents and visitors to experience the historic center during summer evenings. With its open-air exhibitions, music, and crafts, the festival serves as a showcase for local creativity and an opportunity to discover Palazzolo Acreide beyond its famous Baroque monuments.
Following its 2025 debut, Prisma returns in 2026 for its second edition, confirming its ambition to become a staple of the Iblean summer and a reference point for artists, artisans, and art lovers in the Syracuse area.
The second edition of Prisma – Art Festival will take place from July 31 to August 2, 2026, along Corso Vittorio Emanuele in Palazzolo Acreide, as part of the city's cultural season. For 2026, the festival, curated by the Akrai Musica 2 Association, will once again feature its widespread format of art exhibitions, photography displays, artisan stalls, and musical evenings in the Iblean historic center.
At the moment, the organizers have confirmed the dates and venue, while the complete program with the line-up, exhibitors, and cultural meetings will be announced in the weeks preceding the event. Admission, as in the first edition, is free.
Palazzolo Acreide can be reached by car via the SS124 (from Syracuse, approximately 45 minutes) or the SP14 from the Ragusa and Noto area. The reference airports are Catania-Fontanarossa and Comiso. The festival takes place along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, in the historic center.
Free admission. Evening events generally begin around 7:30 PM, with concerts starting at 8:30 PM. Reservations may be required for certain events.
