About Portogruaro Carnival
The Carnival of the Venetian Town
The Portogruaro Carnival, named 'Portogruaro in Maschera', enlivens the center of Portogruaro, in the province of Venice, in February. Included in the circuit of the Metropolitan Carnival of Venice, it is organized by Pro Loco Portogruaro together with the Municipality and is divided into a series of events that alternate the playful aspect with the historical-musical one.
Masks in the Square and Venetian Culture
The heart of the festival is the masked parades in Piazza della Repubblica, with music, entertainment, and awards for the most original masks. Alongside the public events, the Carnival offers a conference dedicated to the tradition of the 18th-century Venetian Carnival and a concert at the Luigi Russolo Municipal Theatre, in a program that enhances the territory's deep connection with the culture of the Serenissima.
A Festival for the Whole City
With Fat Tuesday featuring the 'Confetti & Music' festival, free entry, the Portogruaro Carnival calls families, children, and enthusiasts. It is one of the most colorful events of the Eastern Veneto winter, capable of transforming the elegant arcaded squares of the city into a stage of masks, confetti, and music.
Portogruaro Carnival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Portogruaro Carnival, 'Portogruaro in Maschera', took place from February 12 to 17 with four events that combined the playful aspect with the historical-musical one. Organization by Pro Loco Portogruaro and the Municipality.
Programme Portogruaro Carnival 2026
The 2026 program was divided into four events:
- Thursday, February 12, 2:00 PM — 'Portogruaro in Maschera' in Piazza della Repubblica, with music and award for the most original mask
- Friday, February 13, 5:00 PM — Conference 'When Venice Danced in Costume: Gallants and Nobles in the 1700s' in the Council Hall
- Sunday, February 15 — Concert 'Carnival HarpParade' (Suzuki) at the Luigi Russolo Municipal Theatre
- Tuesday, February 17, 2:00 PM — 'Confetti & Music' in Piazza della Repubblica, with awards for masks and music by DJ Toni Dotta (free entry)

How to get there
Portogruaro is in the province of Venice, in Eastern Veneto. By train on the Venice-Trieste line (Portogruaro-Caorle station). By car from the A4 motorway, Portogruaro exit. Events in the historic center, in Piazza della Repubblica.
