About Portami Fuori!

Portami Fuori! is a cultural project spread across the suburbs of Rome, conceived by the Compagnia Teatrale Carmentalia and launched under the Roma Creativa 365 initiative by Rome Capital. Between the Primavalle and Tuscolano districts, it weaves together theatre workshops, screenings, podcasts, and headphone-based audio performances dedicated to social inclusion and local area development. A journey that unites art, listening, and community, giving a voice to those living in fragile situations and transforming the neighborhood into a sound map to be explored on foot.

A festival spread across the suburbs of Rome

Portami Fuori! is a cultural project that brings theatre, cinema, and storytelling out of traditional venues and into the peripheral districts of the Capital. Conceived and directed by the Compagnia Teatrale Carmentalia, the project was launched in 2025 as a winner of the Roma Creativa 365. Culture all year round call for proposals, promoted by Rome Capital with Zètema Progetto Cultura. Artistic direction is curated by Giulio Forges Davanzati, Alessia Sorbello, and Andrea Trovato.

Two districts, two symbolic locations

Activities take place in two local cultural hubs: the QuindiLab at Via Antonio Patti 5, in the heart of Primavalle (Municipality XIV), and the Cinema Atlantic at Via Tuscolana 745, in the Tuscolano and Don Bosco area (Municipality VII). These two poles of the Roman periphery become spaces for meeting, listening, and participation, restoring centrality to territories often on the margins of the city's narrative.

Theatre, podcasts, and headphone performances

The program alternates different languages with a common thread: giving a voice to those experiencing situations of fragility and marginality. Key offerings include:

  • Theatre workshops dedicated to integration, inclusion, and the prevention of mental distress;
  • Podcasts created with participants, such as «Per così poco», a choral story about daily resilience;
  • Headphone-based audio performances, listening walks that transform neighborhood streets into a sound map;
  • Screenings and meetings with directors and associations, to reflect on social themes through documentary film.

A project for the community

More than just a festival, Portami Fuori! is a participatory experience: residents are not just spectators but protagonists of the workshops and narratives. The goal is to build bonds, enhance local stories, and use art as a tool for inclusion. All events are free to attend with mandatory reservation.

Rome and its neighborhood fabric

The project is part of the rich cultural landscape of the Municipality of Rome, in the Lazio Region, and follows the tradition of community theatre experiences that animate the city's suburbs. Portami Fuori! tells the story of a less touristy and more authentic Rome, that of Municipalities XIV and VII, where culture becomes a social safeguard and an opportunity for encounter between people and generations.
