The neighborhood festival of the San Magno Parish in Trani

The Porchetta Festival is one of those local celebrations that capture the most authentic soul of Italian neighborhoods. It takes place on the courtyard of the San Magno Vescovo e Martire Parish, located at Via Giuseppe Di Vagno 1 in Trani, a city in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, Puglia. This is not a large-scale event with stages and tickets; it is a community celebration where people gather outdoors, among long tables, the aroma of porchetta, and music, to enjoy each other's company in a simple, genuine setting.
As the name suggests, the star of the evening is porchetta, served at the food stalls set up in the church courtyard. Alongside the main dish, there are other specialties, drinks, and desserts, creating a convivial atmosphere that attracts families, children, and local residents. Admission is free, and the format is that of a traditional village festival transplanted into the city: you eat, chat, and listen to music under the stars.
The evening is always accompanied by live music: in the 2025 edition, the courtyard was enlivened by the sweet street band Sotto alle casere vostre, which brought the infectious rhythm of a marching band to the crowd. The festival thus combines the pleasure of good food with the joy of itinerant music, creating a warm and familiar atmosphere.
The festival is organized by the San Magno Parish and is an integral part of the parish community's life, blending moments of prayer with the celebrations that mark the year. As the parish priest, Father Dino Cimadomo, noted, "there are moments dedicated to prayer and others dedicated to celebration": the Porchetta Festival is one of those occasions where the neighborhood meets in fellowship and joy. Social awareness is also a priority: during the event, a blood donation station was hosted in collaboration with Avis Trani.
The neighborhood is named after San Magno Vescovo e Martire, the patron saint of Trani, whose figure is deeply linked to the city and its history. The parish dedicated to the saint is a reference point for local residents, and the festival represents one of the most heartfelt moments of community gathering in the area. Those visiting Trani during this period can combine the evening with the charm of the historic center, the harbor, and the famous Romanesque cathedral overlooking the sea.
The dates and program for the 2026 Porchetta Festival have not yet been announced by the San Magno Parish in Trani. Following the tradition of previous editions, the event is expected to take place in May, during an evening on the church courtyard on Via Giuseppe Di Vagno, with porchetta as the star of the food stalls and live music accompaniment. To find out the official date, it is best to follow the parish's channels.
