A village festival in the heart of Valdarbia

Ponte in Festa has become a hallmark of spring in Ponte d'Arbia, a small village in the municipality of Monteroni d'Arbia, in the province of Siena. Born as a local village feast and grown over the years, the event spans two weekends between late April and early May, transforming the gardens of the Casa del Popolo into a vibrant meeting point for the entire Valdarbia community.

Handmade pici: the true star

The heart of the festival is its kitchen: pici pasta, handmade by local women, is the signature dish. Rolled one by one according to Sienese tradition and served in many variations, it culminates in the famous "tris di pici" (three-way pici) at the closing dinner. Alongside the pici, food stalls offer the most authentic Tuscan cuisine, from grilled meats to traditional rural dishes, all in a convivial and family-friendly atmosphere.

Music, sport, and culture

Beyond the table, Ponte in Festa offers a rich and varied program: musical evenings with bands and DJ sets, trekking and excursions along the Via Francigena and the trails of the Sienese countryside, football tournaments, walking tours, book presentations, and moments of cultural reflection. There is no shortage of events dedicated to children and families, such as the "Festa Magica" with magic shows, soap bubbles, and balloon sculptures.

A community coming together

Organized by U.S. Ponte d'Arbia and the Casa del Popolo d'Arbia in collaboration with the Santa Famiglia parish and under the patronage of the Municipality of Monteroni d'Arbia, the festival maintains an authentically grassroots spirit. The final Sunday opens with an outdoor Holy Mass and continues with a community lunch, a testament to the deep bond between faith, tradition, and village life that runs through the entire Valdarbia region.
