The historic Easter Monday livestock fair in the Biella area
The Ponderano Livestock Fair is an event that has marked the spring calendar of the Biella area for decades. Traditionally held on Easter Monday, it transforms the center of Ponderano, in the province of Biella, into a large space dedicated to agriculture and livestock farming. Promoted by the Pro Loco of Ponderano, the fair is a popular celebration that combines the rural vocation of the Piedmont region with the pleasure of a day outdoors in good company.
The heart of the event is the livestock exhibition, designed to provide visibility and recognition to local breeders. Along the fair route, visitors can admire:
The exhibition is the result of the hard work of local breeders who bring their finest animals to the square each year: the fair was created specifically to promote this supply chain and maintain the bond between the community and its farming roots.
Alongside the animals, the day is enriched by a packed program of activities. From the morning, the market of artisanal and local products opens, joined by hobbyists arriving from as far as the nearby Canavese area. There is no shortage of food stands serving local specialties, perfect for a convivial break between browsing the stalls.
Among the most beloved attractions are the falconry shows, featuring birds of prey guided by falconers, and the demonstrations by the canine units of the Civil Protection provincial coordination center, which showcase the skills of rescue dogs. These activities combine entertainment with education and are particularly appreciated by families.
The Ponderano Livestock Fair is much more than an agricultural exhibition: it is a meeting point for the entire Biella area, drawing visitors from Biella and neighboring towns. Choosing Easter Monday as the date makes it one of the first major outdoor spring celebrations in Piedmont, set in a familiar and genuine atmosphere that perfectly represents the spirit of Piedmontese popular traditions.
The 2026 edition of the Ponderano Livestock Fair, the thirty-second, took place on Monday, April 6, on Easter Monday. The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Ponderano, saw the participation of 18 local breeders, with a large exhibition of cattle, goats, sheep, farm animals, and pets.
Among this year's novelties was the return of the falconry show, which had been canceled in 2025 due to bad weather, and the demonstration by the canine units of the Civil Protection provincial dog training center. To complete the day, the market of artisanal and local products opened in the morning, alongside food stands and hobbyists who arrived from the nearby Canavese area.
The fair takes place on Easter Monday. The market and food stands open in the morning; falconry shows are scheduled for late morning.
Ponderano (BI), in the town center. The town is located just a few kilometers from Biella and is easily accessible by car.
By car: Ponderano is well-connected to Biella and the Biella road network. By train: Biella station, then continue towards Ponderano. We recommend checking with the Pro Loco of Ponderano for the updated program and access details.
This is a popular public event held in the town's open spaces.
