Two nights of circus arts, live music, and comedy in the heart of Pofi
The Pofi Fest - The Smile Festival is the summer event that brings Pofi to life, a village in the province of Frosinone, in the heart of the Ciociaria region and southern Lazio. The idea driving the organizers is simple and clear: to make the town's heart beat through smiles and sharing. For two nights in July, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele stops being just the daily living room for the locals and becomes an open-air theater, with the audience seated among the stone houses, eyes fixed on the stage.
The format weaves together three languages that rarely meet on the same bill: contemporary circus arts, with jugglers, tightrope walkers, and fire performances that take advantage of the evening darkness; live music, entrusted to bands that reinterpret the repertoire of Italian songs; and comedy, featuring names well-known to the general television audience. It is a precise choice that focuses on accessibility: no show requires special preparation to be enjoyed, and everything works just as well for children as it does for adults.
The evenings follow a well-tested rhythm. From late afternoon, the square opens with the Food Area, set up with tables and seating for dining al fresco; the shows kick off in the evening, when the temperature becomes more pleasant and the village fills up.
The gastronomic aspect is not just a side note. The stands offer local excellence in a part of Italy where the Ciociaria peasant cuisine has maintained a very recognizable identity: handmade pasta, grilled meats, extra virgin olive oil from the hills of the Valle Latina, and traditional family-style desserts. Dining in the square before the show is, in fact, an integral part of the experience.
Pofi stands on a hill overlooking the Valle Latina, between the Lepini and Ernici mountains. The town retains a medieval layout with narrow alleys, stone portals, and scenic views that open up suddenly over the countryside. The municipal territory contains important prehistoric evidence, highlighted by the local Prehistoric Museum and the EcoMuseo Argil trail, dedicated to the relationship between man and the environment in the Valle Latina. The Pofi community is particularly active in terms of traditions: the Living Passion, a sacred representation with over a century of history, and the Summer Carnival are two other events that mark the village's calendar.
The Pofi Fest was born from the Pofi a Colori Association, a local volunteer group, and takes place under the patronage of the Municipality of Pofi. The stated goal is twofold: to offer quality entertainment at zero cost to participants and, at the same time, to promote the area and its roots, bringing visitors from neighboring towns in the province of Frosinone to the village.
Organized by the Pofi a Colori Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Pofi, the 2026 edition confirmed the formula that combines street art, music, and comedy in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. The opening of the Food Area at 6:00 PM allowed the public to dine al fresco before the start of the shows, scheduled for 9:00 PM on both evenings.
On Friday, July 10, the square was entirely dedicated to circus arts, with Mr. Wolf, a tightrope walker and juggler, and Angiolè, star of a fire performance. On Saturday, July 11, the closing evening featured Medley in Italy on stage, a band dedicated to the greatest hits of Italian songs with their Export Live Tour, followed by the performance of 'Nduccio, a comedian much loved by television audiences.
Admission to all shows was free.
All shows and the Food Area are held in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, in the historic center of Pofi (03026), in the province of Frosinone.
By car: from the A1 Milan-Naples motorway, take the Ceprano or Frosinone exit, then follow provincial roads towards Pofi (about 15-20 minutes). From Rome, the trip takes approximately an hour and a half.
